Customer Review Summary

The main complaint is staffing. Two reviewers describe a Friday lunchtime queue out of the door with one person serving while the other staff member was out on deliveries, with customers walking out and a wait of around half an hour, though both say the person serving was doing her best. A separate review says the fish was mostly batter and chewy, and that salt and vinegar were missing. Another found the hake bites off and the chips mediocre.

“Had the hake bites and chips, great value, however the fish was disgusting think it was passed its sell by date, tasted off had to throw it. Chips were mediocre at best. Terrible food.”

“Seniors is my go to chippy, I visit 1-2 times per week. My last visit (tues 19th may) wasn’t the usual experience I have. I had ordered the cheapy Tuesday and was served by a lady called Sue who seemed really fed up of her job as she on her own serving customers whilst there was another staff doing the deliveries on her own!! Seniors you need to do better. 2 staff when the shop is full? When I eventually got my food, the fish had a small black hair in the batter, and the fish consisted of mostly batter than actual fish, and it was chewy. I had asked for salt and vinegar and there was none.”

“Nightmare no fault of the lady working she was doing her best and was apologetic and calm despite being growled at but she was on her own on a Friday lunchtime people where walking out as the queue was out of the door the delivery driver helped out when he got in but he can’t be in 2 places I appreciate that staff are a luxury but I’m sure there’s someone willing to do a few hours and at short notice a guy wanted 3 lightly battered fish the poor woman didn’t have time to serve the customers never mind batter fish I promised my mum a chippy dinner she’s 91 so had to wait it out needs to be sorted it’s not the best of times at the moment so loosing customers I did enjoy my dinner didn’t enjoy the wait to get it.”

“I have been getting my fish and chips, chicken, pies etc from Seniors almost every week for the past two years. The food is always good, the staff are friendly and welcoming - until recently I couldn't fault it. When I called on Friday the queue was out of the door, not because there was a global rush on chippy lunches but because there was only one member of staff working in the shop. The only other staff member was out delivering an order. I felt really sorry for the staff member, she was doing a fantastic job in really difficult circumstances. I waited for half an hour but lots of customers walked out because they didn't have the time to wait. In conclusion I would say that a popular and thriving business is being ruined by staff cuts. Come on Seniors, you can do better than this!”
