Customer Review Summary
Dirty fries draw the most praise, with one diner calling the haggis version the best they have had and another urging the truffle fries, while burgers and chips are also called better than anywhere else. Close behind are the sandwiches, especially beef pastrami and ham, picked up for takeaway lunches, along with a salmon bagel, a sweet potato, coconut and chilli soup, and cooked breakfasts with sausage rolls. Coffee, an oat latte and matcha are well liked, and desserts such as the Citrus Olive Oil Cake, carrot cake and millionaire shortbread are mentioned repeatedly. Service splits. Several call the staff friendly and quick, but two describe unfriendly or rude treatment, one after being refused the toilet as a takeaway customer and then hearing a remark about the tip jar. Other complaints include a vegan burger with only two tiny pieces of tomato, eat-in food served in takeaway cardboard, self-serve cutlery and sauces, and chilly upstairs seating. One reviewer advises coming early, since a line can form right as the doors open.

“Great spot to grab takeout for a day out in Skye. The desserts were delicious.”

“I ate at Relish twice while in Portree. I got the vegetarian breakfast and my husband got the standard. It was all cooked perfectly. Very good for the price point and for something substantial. I haven't had much luck with matcha in Scotland 😅 but this was one of the better ones. On my last day I nabbed a mocha and sandwich to go. The coffee was very good and the sandwich was fresh. It was the perfect thing to start a long day back to Edinburgh before the tour bus set off. They got my coffee fast too! I also think their millionaires are some of the best. Wonderful shortbread portion, gooey caramel. Just be aware, come early. A line can start often right as they open. I wish they opened around 7:30 or 8 am to allow more time before the tour buses leave.”

“I can't complain against the food me and my partner thought it was absolutely great 5 stars all day long for that. My biggest issue was I placed my food order and paid for the food did take 15 minutes I have not got an issue with that at all my issue was I could not use the toilet as a paying takeaway customer which I think is absolutely terrible I understand why most places only allow paying customers to use the toilets. Will say staff was very rude and talking to me like I was stupid for asking to use the toilet which I think is absolutely nuts when people are paying it's not like it was £5 it was over £30 the other thing that really got to me was when he handed me the food he said the tip jar is over their just laughed at him thought could not paint a red neck on some people absolute joke it is sad as the food was great but will never be back after that. Give the food 5 stars For everything else would give 0 if I could I understand it's about the food mostly but for the staff and the rules are crazy reason for one star would push people to use the other local food places”

“Relish was a good experience. The to go sandwiches were tasty, we ordered thr roast beef pastrami. We also got the salmon bagel toasted which was also amazing. Lastly, the sweet potato, coconut, chilli soup was so well made it makes me want to try to figure out to make it my self being a soup lover in the cold months. Lastly, the truffle fries, get them if you are there. Yummy. Thank you, Relish.”

“After a several-hour precarious drive in the rain from Inverness, finding parking and dropping off our luggage at a nearby hotel, we needed a snack and to settle in to Portree. Relish was very close to our hotel. (Full disclosure: Portree is tiny, so every place is very close to every other place) We happened across Relish quickly, and it was the perfect spot for us to refuel and settle in. You order at the counter downstairs to either take away or be assigned a table (after you order) in the upstairs dining area. ie: don't go upstairs to claim a table if you haven't ordered yet.) My wife and I shared a delicious Brie, Cranberry, and Chutney Croissant. There were plenty of other options for vegetarians. I couldn't resist also adding in a slice of the tantalizing-looking Citrus Olive Oil Cake, which turned out to also taste tantalizing. They were very nice. The food was delivered to us quickly upstairs. This is a great spot for a quick, reservation-less bite mid-day in Portree.”
