About The Front

The Front is a bar and grill on The Princess Margaret Way in Port Talbot, set on the seafront by Aberavon Beach. Its drive-thru serves coffee, doughnuts and ice creams from 7am, so a drink or a sweet treat is available straight from the car on the beach front. Inside, the restaurant works from a rabbit-themed menu that centres on burgers, including the Pitt Master burger. Other plates include a half rack of ribs served with coleslaw and fries, and chicken and waffles. The bar sits alongside the kitchen. Tater tots round out the sides.

Customer Review Summary

Burgers draw the most attention at The Front, with one reviewer relaying a child calling theirs the best he had ever had, though the Pitt Master burger also drew a complaint that its patty and sausage tasted freezer burnt. Close behind, reviewers praise giant portions, friendly staff and the seafront setting, and one singles out the coffee. Ribs with coleslaw and fries were called nice, though the barbecue sauce was a touch sweet for one diner. Tater tots earned an excellent mention, while chips were called mediocre and chicken and waffles slightly overcooked. Slow service is the recurring complaint: one party waited 20 minutes for starters and an hour for mains, and another also called the service very slow. Two vegetarians found barely any veggie options and the food under seasoned for the price. Several reviewers describe food that arrived correct for a party of 11 and say they plan to return.

“Very slow service, but the poor review is mostly for food quality. The burger patties on the Pitt Master burger tasted extremely oxidized, maybe freezer burnt. The sausage on the burger also tasted freezer burnt and I had to spit it out. At £20, this is pretty unacceptable. The chicken and waffles were fine but a little overcooked. Excellent tater tots! Mediocre chips.”

“Edit 2 years later: Not only does Aberavon Beach still remain hidden gem, but so does The Front. I brought my childen with me this time and my oldest said it was the best burger he'd ever had. This restraunt is a must try!”

“First time visiting this establishment. On arrival we were asked to wait a few minutes so they could clear a table for us , which was no problem. Drinks order was taken promptly and not long after our drinks arrived and we ordered food. Food arrived in around 30 minutes, which was expected as place was busy. I ordered the half rack of ribs which came with coleslaw and fries. It was nice, but the bbq sauce was slightly sweet for me. Will definitely go again.”

“We came here for lunch with some friends, two of us are vegetarian and we thought it was quite odd that there was barely any veggie options despite the rabbit theming... You either serve rabbit on the menu or make it more inclusive for rabbits 😆 the service was friendly and the atmosphere was good, the food was not great for the price. Under seasoned and average, although at least the portions were big.”
