Customer Review Summary
Seafood platters anchor the praise, from the lobster platter to the ultimate feast for two that one group of three found plenty. Close behind are the fresh fish dishes: large cod and chips with mushy peas in a light batter, Dover Sole described as outstanding, fish soup, seafood chowder, and a trio of sole, sea bass and mackerel. Garlic mushrooms, fresh calamari and homemade desserts are also singled out. Reviewers repeatedly call the staff friendly and welcoming, describe a family run feel, and say the prices were fair for the quality. One couple liked that their dog was welcome inside. The one sharp negative comes from a diner who found the food burned and cooked in old oil, felt it was overpriced, and described a slow wait to order, then food set down with the staff walking off before sauces could be requested. Every other review is positive, and one visiting family came back several times during a nine day trip.

“Went here this evening for a meal with my boyfriend and it was so lovely! We hadn’t been before but we discovered they are dog friendly which is ideal for us as we have a little dog. This was the first time we had taken our dog with us out to eat and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The food was stunning and so were the deserts. I would 100% recommend to anyone. The service was lovely too. Thank you for such a good experience!!”

“Easy to miss this small restaurant amongst the many dining dining options on the Barbican but it's well worth seeking out. Lots of fish options amongst plenty of other dishes. We both had the large cod and chips with mushy peas, big oval plates full of delicious food, the fish was super fresh and cooked in a light batter that didn't overpower the flakes of cod. Nice chips and mushy peas. Waiter was very friendly and efficient and all the food and drink was competitively priced. Recommended 👍”

“Absolutely fantastic experience! The seafood was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The seafood platter was outstanding and easily one of the best I’ve had. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, with a lovely location on the Barbican. Great value for the quality of food and service. I would highly recommend Platters to anyone visiting Plymouth and will definitely be coming back!”
