About La Casita Penrith
La Casita Penrith is a Spanish tapas bar in Penrith, on Queen St, with a Bilbao-born Spanish chef running the kitchen. Paella is slow cooked to order, so it arrives fresh from the pan rather than waiting on the pass. Tapas come as multiple small plates per table, which suits sharing across a group. A separate specials menu features lambs kidneys in sherry and wild rabbit saddle. The bar pours traditional Spanish spirits and beer to go with the food. On weekdays, a deal gives three tapas plates.

Customer Review Summary
Authentic tapas is what reviewers return to most, with several calling it the best they have had and noting that plates arrive promptly even when the restaurant is full. Diners single out the clams and lamb, while specials from the Bilbao-born chef draw praise for lambs kidneys in sherry and wild rabbit saddle with spinach. Slow roasted ribs and a Carne paella cooked slowly also earn mention, alongside Estrella on tap, sangria, smashing cocktails and lovely desserts. Reviewers describe friendly, helpful service, cozy tables and a busy room with a great atmosphere even midweek. Many call it good value, and the weekday tapas deal is singled out. One group staying at Centre Parcs says it is leagues ahead of the on-site options and advises booking for Saturday evening. Repeat visits are common: one pair ate there on consecutive nights, and another came back within the week for the Marisco paella.

“The best tapas I have had in a fair while. I have been tempted by this resturant deal for 3 plates for £20 on weekdays and finally gave in and it was well worth the money and more. If you are wanting an authentic experience that is not just overpriced this is a good to perfect value for money and the cocktails are smashing. We will definitely be returning with more people next time”

“Excellent place to eat on a Sunday evening, when options are a bit limited in town. Very nice food, served by friendly staff at a reasonable price. We had 6 played of tapas between two of us, which was plenty, and all delicious. Lovely desserts too! Recommended”

“This place is an absolute gem. The food is incredible, every dish we had was amazing. A nice setting ithat’s very well presented with a really cool decor. The quality of the food is matched, if not surpassed by the first class staff that work there, Zaim, Caitlin and Ollie were delightful and putting all that together we ate there on consecutive night. Both nights 5* food and service. Great food and great people 🥂”

“Superb tapas - the best we’ve ever had. We ordered 8 plates plus desserts and everything was delicious and well presented. Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The food arrived promptly despite the restaurant being full on a Friday night. We will definitely return next time we visit Penrith. Highly recommended.”

“Highly recommended! The tapas deal was worth it. We especially loved the clams dish and lamb but everything was really delicious. Lived up to its reputation and good reviews!”
