Customer Review Summary

Tonkotsu ramen is the bowl reviewers mention most, praised for its lovely broth and beautifully cooked pork belly, and regulars keep returning for the spicy version. Close behind are the teriyaki duck ramen and beef tantanmen, called delicious and comforting by one longtime regular, while the chicken gyoza and chicken karaage also earn mentions. A vegetarian describes a miso ramen with tofu as tasty and satisfying, and another reviewer notes tasty vegan options. The small, traditional room strikes some as cozy and others as busy, crowded and cramped, with shoulder-to-shoulder seating and a queue outside at a Saturday lunch. One reviewer found the noodles like grocery store ones and the portions small. Another disliked the taco-like meat in the spicy tonkatsu ramen, which gave it a strange taste. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and reviewers recall a phone charged for a customer, fresh chopsticks after a dropped pair, and a sports bottle filled on the hottest day of the year.

“Had a great time, I would really recommend the tonkotsu ramen as the broth is lovely and the pork belly is beautifully cooked. It is a very small restaurant so a very cozy atmosphere. Michelle was particularly nice, she came over occasionally to ask whether we wanted something and cleared our dishes very quickly once we were done, she was very polite and helpful. Will definitely come back again next time I am in Oxford.”

“It was a pleasant and an enjoyable place with delicious food . The service was incrediblely nice letting us charge my phone and giving us new chopsticks when we dropped ours. The servers were really friendly especially Aruna . The children loved the food and was very satisfied. I really recommend going there.”

“I had the pan-fried chicken gyoza, great! Then the delicious Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, it was good but I would take it without the taco meat (best I can describe it) which gave it a strange taste. Very limited interior seating (22 total seats if my memory serves)”

“Ok. Famous for broths that take hours simmering, I had the veggie option with tofu instead of tender fall-apart slices of meat. Miso was the base for this one. All tasty and very satisfying. Cool, tiny, character place. Super everything else. Will come again and thanks for the effort for vegetarians, this was much appreciated!”

“Small spot. Very traditional feel and vibe. It feels like walking into a Japanese ramen place anywhere in Tokyo. The owner provided a quick recommendation and the ramen was absolutely amazing. Beautifully spicy which is what I wanted and ordered. The picture I hope speaks a 1000 words. Located in a great place. Very accessible. If I worked in the area, I’d be eating there constantly!”
