  “Wow, what a fantastic little place. Proper Ice-cream, great food, indoor and outdoor areas to dine, alongside the well maintained canal. Beautiful. Bit of a challenge to find, made the sat nav work, but well worth the trip. Definitely a place we'll be returning too. The food was delicious and service excellent, despite it being fairly busy we didn't have to wait to long. But we booked a table, which is advised at busier times, like weekends and whens its dry and sunny. Lovely place”

  “So we all know the ice cream is epic. But grandpa greene’s also does cracking coffee and good breakfasts as well. In fact, the food across the board is fab and the setup in the canal side in Diggle is lovely. Brilliant spot for a lunch or coffee stop.”

  “frequent customer, but first time setting up an event here !! we secured a table for 12 for my best friend’s bridal shower & we were catered to with attention & a delicious spread. thank you so much to leah & our other hostesses for their attention. fyi - the chicken is halal?? & absolutely delicious”

  “A great place for food and drink. Its situation by the canal with ample seating along side it and covered seating inside. The ice creams are to die for! A little on the expensive side but so worth it. There's a nice play park across from here on the other side of the canal just over the lock bridge with makes a nice walk around With children too.”

  “If you’re looking for a peaceful place to enjoy a sweet treat, GranpaGreen’s is well worth a visit. The setting is lovely and tranquil, surrounded by beautiful countryside that makes it feel like a proper escape from the hustle and bustle. The ice cream itself is fantastic, with a huge range of flavours to choose from, so there’s something for everyone.They do other things as well as ice cream, probably best to book. There are seats along side of the canal. Everything tasted fresh, creamy, and clearly made with care. The only downside is the parking, which can be a bit of an issue when it’s busy, and you may have to wait or park further away than you’d like. That said, once you’re there, the atmosphere more than makes up for it. A great spot to relax, enjoy the scenery, and indulge in some top-quality ice cream.”

  “After reading some of the negative comments, we were a bit apprehensive of our visit. We booked one of the domes. It was warm and cosy. The young girls that served us were so lovely. They couldn't do enough. Service was spot on and the food was just amazing!! I would definitely go again. They treated my son to a little birthday treat too!!!! Loved it”

  “A really great spot for pancakes! The setting by the canal is particularly lovely on a sunny day. We had the Oreo pancakes and the kinder bueno pancakes and both were great, though the Oreo ones were VERY chocolatey! It felt like just enough without being sickly! Service was quick and super helpful! We also both had milkshakes and these were disappointing for the price and the reason I’ve given 4 stars instead of 5 - they were visually exciting but I expected these to be much bigger given the cost (£7.20!) and more like a thick, proper, ice cream milkshake! These were definitely more like a simple flavoured milk for us but maybe we came at the wrong time of day or just on a bad day for shakes! All in all, would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!”

  “Visited Grandpa Greens recently and had mixed feelings. The food itself was nice and well-made, but the prices have gone up quite a lot, and you don’t seem to get much for your money anymore. It’s a bit disappointing because while the quality is there, you’d expect more in terms of portion size or value given what you’re paying.”

  “I finally visited Grandpa Greene’s, and I completely understand why this place is so popular! Between the atmosphere and the treats, it’s a lovely spot for a day out. The Highlights The ice cream was absolutely delicious. Our group tried a variety of flavours: * White Chocolate * Salted Caramel * Mint Choc Chip * Chocolate We had them in a range of cones and an edible tub, and every single one was a hit. The quality of the ice cream is top-tier. Plus, the scenery and views around the area are beautiful, and the restaurant itself had a delightful smell that made us want to come back just to sample the food menu! A Few Minor Issues The Milkshake: While the ice cream was a 10/10, the vanilla milkshake was a bit of a disappointment. It was unfortunately quite tasteless, though still drinkable. Parking: As expected, parking was a bit of an issue. To be fair, their website does flag this as a known concern. Luckily, we found it fairly easy to find on-street parking nearby with a short walk. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot. We’ll definitely be returning to try their actual meals next time!”

  “I went to Grandpa Greene’s Luxury Ice Cream in Oldham specifically after seeing their tempting Instagram post for the “Kinda Bueno” pancakes loaded with sauce, ice cream, and all the toppings. It looked absolutely incredible. When I arrived, they only offered takeaway, and the only seating was outside with no shelter. It was absolutely torrential rain at the time, so eating there wasn’t really an option. I took it away instead. The reality was nowhere near the Instagram version. The takeaway pancakes had hardly any sauce at all, just a tiny drizzle that barely covered anything. The whole thing tasted incredibly dry, and it looked completely different from the promotional photo. The ice cream and toppings were there, but it felt rushed and underwhelming compared to what was advertised. I understand that takeaway versions might not look exactly the same as styled photos, but this was a massive difference. For the price (£11.95) and the hype on social media, I expected much better. Wouldn’t rush back based on this experience.”
