Customer Review Summary
Pizzas draw most of the praise, with diners naming a bbq burnt ends pizza, a calzone and a sloppy giuseppe as tasty. Close behind are the hot honey dough balls, which one reviewer never expected to work, and the billionaires sundae, called incredible. Window seats with a view of the Cathedral get a mention, and several describe friendly, welcoming servers, including one who brought a meal out early for a diner leaving the group. Service is the uneven part. One reviewer describes a hostile server who avoided the table and wondered whether being a gay couple played a part. Another reports a rude point toward a table that was still marked, a bland pizza and very greasy chips, and a third found the young staff miserable. One calls the service very slow, and one says the toilets could have been cleaner. One table had to ask for plates and used napkins for the dough balls.

“Very good food and service today from Varun. Service with a smile and everything as we ordered. Great view of the Cathedral from the window seats. The only one issue were the toilets could have been cleaner.”

“Really enjoyed our visit to PizzaExpress! We were greeted by near the entrance which someone had asked where about we would like to sit, which we chose near the window to overlook the view. the pizzas were really tasty, we had a bbq burnt ends and la-rene , and everything came out nice and quickly. Our waitress Millie was friendly, and had checked in on us at the right time, and made us feel welcome. Overall, it was a really nice meal with great service. We’d definitely come back again for another visit!”

“We will never be returning to this establishment. Our server had a hostile attitude from the beginning. She asked for a drinks order the second we sat down - not an issue, it’s good to be attentive - but she seemed annoyed that we hadn’t decided what to drink yet. From then on, it seemed like we had got on her bad side; she spent the entirety of our stay there pointedly avoiding our table. When she asked how our meal was, she didn’t even wait for a reply before she walked off. It wasn’t particularly busy in her section and she spent most the time chatting with other tables, so we can’t even explain this behaviour to her being rushed off her feet. I ordered a pasta dish; she asked if I wanted garlic bread or salad, so I asked if it would be extra. She scoffed and said “yes” in a way that made me feel stupid and humiliated. I was asking because I genuinely didn’t know. After we finished our meal, she continued to avoid our table in favour of chatting to others, so much so that we had to flag down a server from a different section to ask for the bill. He fetched her, and she wordlessly typed the amount into her card machine and placed it in front of me, without asking how everything was, how we wished to pay or if we wanted to split the bill, which we did. I said we would be splitting and she seemed to also take that personally. We weren’t given a single chance to tell her we’d be paying separately. All in all, the food was delicious and the food runners were excellent - very attentive and cheerful. It’s a shame our server acted like we’d personally scorned her. We even questioned if it was because we’re a gay couple. We will not be returning here.”

“Visited pizza express last week with my partner, we had mains and a dessert which were very tasty. Our Server Grace was very attentive and ensured we had the best service, I cannot fault her at all. Thank you very much. We will be visiting again!”

“High prices and very slow service. They make milk shakes with ice. I have queried this by email and they clearly stated they do not put ice in a milk shake. 3 weeks later, yes they do. If you are vegan, gluten free, dairy free they do cater for you. Except they quickly run out of stock. It was a warm day for the time of year and the chiller for cold drinks was half empty. Id only go there because I was at the forum and wanted refreshment. There are plenty of other places in Norwich that cater better”
