About The Rocketeer Restaurant
The Rocketeer Restaurant is a seafood restaurant at 26 Victoria Rd in North Berwick, set on the sea front and overlooking the sea and beach. Fish and chips come battered, breaded or grilled, with tartare sauce alongside and a gluten-free batter available for those who need it. The menu also lists seafood chowder and a lobster and seafood roll. Dogs are welcome here, and the team brings them water and a sausage, so a four-legged companion can join the table. The restaurant opens daily, and a queue can form out the door at busy times.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips is what reviewers return to most, available battered, breaded or grilled, with a light, crispy batter, chips like a proper chippy's, and a generous tartare sauce on the side. One reviewer was pleasantly surprised by the gluten free batter. Close behind are the lobster, described as beautifully seasoned in garlic butter, and a seafood platter called very impressive, with seafood chowder and a lobster and seafood roll also mentioned. Diners praise the sea views, the friendly staff, and a menu with vegan, gluten free and kids' options. Several note it is dog friendly, with one pup given water and a sausage, and one reviewer suggests booking because of a queue out the door. One describes the room as a little cramped and loud when full. The caveat comes from one reviewer who found the fish tasteless and the chowder's large potatoes undercooked, saying only the fries were worth ordering. Another, arriving after the kitchen had closed early for low season, was offered a free Caesar salad with bread by the owner.

“With a great location overlooking the beach and a very tempting menu it was no surprise the queue was out the door even on a Thursday, so booking is probably advised. We hadn’t booked and was very lucky to get a table only due to a no show, the staff were very accommodating in doing this for us. Very dog friendly, was welcomed with water and a sausage for the pup! A great choice of food and all reasonably priced. The seafood platter was very impressive and the battered fish and chips was also a winner (you can also choose breaded or grilled) with a generous tasty Tartar sauce. The restaurant does feel a little cramped and chaotic upon arrival. But it was fully booked and thus quite loud, though that is likely be down to a few particular groups that day.”

“On an over cast and drizzly day, we stopped in North Berwick for lunch. The Rocketeer looks inviting on the sea front - a great location with views across the sea and beach. The food tells the story of why the restaurant is so popular. Fresh, large fish and chips with super tasty mushy peas, a great kids chicken and salad, and cracking special lobster and seafood roll. Overall just a really great place to get lunch.”

“Fries were very good. The fish didn’t taste anything and the chowder had large undercooked potatoes in it. If you can, only order the fries alone”
