Customer Review Summary

Coffee and cake draw the warmest praise, with one reviewer calling the coffee good tasting and the snacks a pleasant break from the weekly shop. Others call the food lovely and tasty, and one enjoyed the fried bread and eggs on a large breakfast, though the bacon rashers and sausages were small. Complaints about slow service and thin staffing recur just as often. Reviewers describe waits far longer than quoted in a quiet cafe, tables left uncleared, and fish and chips and lasagne unavailable. Orders arrived wrong: one diner got scampi and egg on toast while a toastie went unmade, then arrived untoasted, and another asked repeatedly for an egg that was left off. One reviewer says staff seemed disinterested unless a customer was a local, while others sympathise with a stretched team, including one worker running the whole cafe who still asked if everything was okay. One diner described a ready meal chicken tikka masala with rice stuck together like a brick. Another, shown photos of the wrong order, was refunded swiftly and given a voucher.

“Visited with my grandchildren tea time 11/11/25 there was only one lady running the hole cafe taking orders at till cooking food serving it clearing up and she even had time to come and ask was everything okay i felt really sorry for her but she done a brilliant job well done and food was lovely”

“Wanted to go out somewhere for breakfast later on in the day, and knew that they served all day here. Got the restaurant where there was a long queue so waited. When we got to the till, the lady serving was quite visibly stressed and frustrated. When we asked for food she loudly exclaimed ‘well fine, but this is the last food order I’m taking because I’m too busy’ Hmm, okay. She took the order without asking what my partner wanted, and when we asked for his order she same ‘I’ve already put yours through’ she had just given him what I had ordered. We couldn’t be bothered to argue. When we sat down we checked the recipe t and she’d put through one without egg. We did not ask for this. We went back up and told her we would like egg, she said it was fine and she would make sure we got egg. When the food came, no egg. When I went and asked for the egg they looked annoyed and made it in a huff. I’m not saying that this employee is to blame, there were only two workers on. And they were quite busy, I can only imagine it was quite stressful. However, having worked in the hospitality industry for many years and faced many occasions where I’ve worked on a short staffed shift, I would never treat the customer like it was there fault. Because it’s not. And although I wouldn’t have minded a longer wait, or even that they’d miss the egg, the attitude that came with it was where I realised that I would not be returning to this establishment. The cafe needs to get there staffing right and retrain there staff on how to cope on stressful situation!”
