About Home Farm Café
Home Farm Café is a cafe in Newton Abbot, set in the grounds of Parke, a 250-acre estate on the edge of Dartmoor, and its kitchen centres on Dartmoor produce. The menu runs to 56 dishes, including Halloumi Fries, Home Farm Granola and a Blood Orange Lassi, with vegetarian and vegan options marked. The Pork Flatbread uses locally sourced slow cooked pork, and the Pulled Chicken Banh Mi comes with coleslaw and crisps. Cream tea with scones, jam and cream is served alongside a selection of cakes. Ordering happens at the counter, and a buzzer signals when the food is ready to collect. Dogs are welcome. Parke is a National Trust site with walks nearby.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food made with local ingredients, and the Pork Flatbread, filled with slow cooked local pork, is the dish singled out first. Close behind are a pulled chicken banh mi with coleslaw and crisps, a mature cheddar with onion marmalade, and a Christmas menu chicken course described as one of the best meals one diner has had. Vegan choices draw repeated praise, including crispy courgette and aubergine borani with pita bread. Many mention generous portions, friendly staff, and plenty of outdoor tables, with the café often used as a stop before or after a walk. One walker found the cream tea perfect, with two very good scones and generous jam and cream. The one complaint is from a diner with dietary needs, who says staff could not adapt dishes and left without ordering. Others describe ordering at the counter and collecting their meal when a buzzer goes off.

“Don’t bother going here if you have any dietary needs or want any level of decent service from the staff. On the face of it their menu looks good but the staff are unable to make changes to make dishes suitable and they clearly don’t care about this either. Very disappointing experience that had us leave without ordering.”

“Wonderful to finally find a high quality locally run cafe at a national trust venue! Very kind staff, great food, and not your average pre-packaged offering I see in most other NT properties. Hurrah!”
- Angela Phillips
“Fantastic menu. Several vegan options, including crispy courgette & aubergine borani which were both so delicious. Pita bread was gorgeous too. Lots of picnic tables outside, many with parasols. Will definitely come again”

“What a lovely place! The menu was varied and the food was wholesome and super tasty. Really excellent vegan options - probably some of the best vegan food options available at a National Trust site. Really friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.”
