About Kao Hom Thai Food
Kao Hom Thai Food is a walk-in Thai takeaway shack at 4 Henver Rd in Newquay, run by a small group of Thai women who cook and prep each order on site. The menu runs by number, covering panang curry and a sweet and spicy crispy chicken stir-fry with cashew nuts, alongside chicken samosas and coconut rice for soaking up the thin panang sauce. Ordering is cash only at the counter, with no card payments taken, and the kitchen hands each meal out in a takeaway box, the samosas intended to be opened just before eating to keep the pastry crisp. A queue is almost always present, and many regulars pick up pre-placed orders. The shack sits close to the coast, and customers often take their food down to the nearby beaches.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the authentic Thai cooking, with several citing visitors who lived in Thailand saying it beats anything they ate there. One names panang curry with coconut rice, plus chicken samosas and a cashew chicken stir-fry. Waits are long, and one reviewer describes jumbled queue order and being given a previous day's uncollected order. Another says the cooks still remembered their name after years away.

“Waren im Urlaub zwei Mal dort, da es so lecker war! Relativ lange Wartezeit und nur Barzahlung aber definitiv eine Empfehlung.”

“Its a little takeaway shack, theres a few old thai women in there cooking and prepping the food.. a tad overpriced for what it is but decent food all the same..”

“It‘s a food truck and a very good one, too! The ladies are great, food is fantastic. You have to wait a little bit, but once you notice how many just swing by and pick up their placed order you know why. They are busy for tasty reasons. Place your order and enjoy your meal at the nearby beaches.”

“I list my order lower down with brief description of what they are, hopefully it helps some of you navigate the menu and pic the best dishes on your 1st visit. Take cash no card machine...... 7 years on after I left 5 stars here and it's still the same. Same lady cooking same great food. Same insanely busy atmosphere. Yet everytime I go they rememeber my name (been nearly 3 years since I visited as lived so far away for a bit) I don't know why but I struggle to find a problem here. There's almost always someone in the queue that's lived in Thailand making similar comments to "I lived in Thailand x amount of years and I never had food as good as here" Far as I'm concerned now I don't need to visit Thailand. Lol I order a 25 with chicken = panang curry. With a 55 = coconut rice (soaks up/thickens the very thin sauce from curry well) A 35 = god knows how to pronounce it but it's like a sweet and mildly spicy crispy chicken stirfry with cashew nuts and peppers like nothing most of you will have tried before. I grab that as like a picking item that keeps till the next day but also handy if your child decides to steal half your curry. The 9 which is chicken only samosas which are good for finicky eatting children but have an amazing flavor yet still seem to go with everything on the menu (open box before setting off home so they maintain there crispyness. Hopefully my order helps some of you navigate the menu a little but these numbers are fool proof here.”
