Customer Review Summary

Fish and chips lead the praise, with reviewers repeatedly singling out thin, crisp batter, fish cooked just right, and fresh chips that are not greasy. Portions are described as generous or massive, even a small bag of chips, and several call the prices great, with one saying a meal costs half what other shops charge. Mushy peas are close behind, along with curry sauce, fish cakes, and a veggie sausage option one reviewer has yet to try. Service draws steady warmth, with the husband and wife team called friendly and kind, and one reviewer describes salt and vinegar added in stages so every chip tasted as good. The caveats are modest. Because the fish is cooked fresh, one reviewer had to wait, another names the opening times as the only issue, and one notes there are no meal deals. One late visitor, after other takeaways had shut, says the lady heated the oil, battered a fresh fish, and fried new chips just for them.

“An excellent fish & chip shop but remember that it's Cash Only! The fish was cooked fresh so we had to wait for 10-15 minutes but it was perfect. May, the lady, made sure I got everything the way I wanted and it was a complicated order!”

“Absolutely lovely fish and chips, highly recommend! The place is run by a lovely couple who were so kind and chatty to my partner and I. They were very accommodating by giving us a fresh drink before we left so it was extra cold and tartar sauce on the house. The fish portions are massive and that’s great!!!! They make everything fresh and you can taste it. The chips aren’t greasy and the batter is soooooo nice - fab prices too!! Will be going again asap 🤩 (Have added the closing week in May 2025 just in case you want to go then!)”

“I would travel miles for this hidden gem of a place. My family ran one of the busiest fish bar around London many decades back so I know a thing or two about fish and chip, let me start by value.. excellent portions and great prices, everything is fried fresh, (don't know how they make any profit at today's energy prices). The batter was just perfect..thin and crisp, the fish cooked just right, chips were crisp and freshly fried. But above all you are served by the nicest, kindest and generous people. I must add that I visited this place after all other takeaways were shutting, their offerings if any consisted of leftover scraps, the lady in Lucky fish bar heated up the oil, battered the fish and throw in some fresh chips JUST for me, this is surely unheard of these days.”
