  “First time coming to Nantwich for a coffee. My daughter and I browsed all the coffee shops first, then chose this one as the display window looked full of delicious pastries. We were looking for a nice cafe to have a coffee and snack. I couldn't see the prices of the individual cakes or savoury snacks. Usually in cafes there is a form of mini signage to say what it is and the cost, but this was not present. I looked on the main menu on the table but couldnt see the price of cakes, except for a full cream tea. I looked on the main blackboard and still couldn't find this information. Perhaps I was oblivious, but this was quite disorientating. There was a delicious looking pastry, but I had no idea what it was and so it didn't really help me make a choice efficiently. Service was very slow. One gentleman was doing a lot of the work and was clearly trying hard to keep many cogs turning, so well done to him. I think the overall busyness, and apparent training of new staff at the same time, impacted customer service and friendliness. We only chose drinks and these also took a long time to come. We chose outside seating. It did occur to me when I eventually did get my drink, and I was observing my surroundings, that the cafe directly opposite had a very calm atmosphere and the person serving was attentive to the customers. I suppose one should not always be swayed by a window display of pastries. Not a bad cup of coffee, a standard latte, and it was served in an aesthetically pleasing mug. Iced coffee wasn't overloaded with ice and served in a lovely jar.”

  “The coffee is so so nice and the Biscoff rocky road I had was 10/10. They have a little bit of outdoor seating which is great on a summers day.”

  “Went for breakfast this morning. coffee was nice but food was disappointing. my partner had a nutella croissant which was so stale he couldn’t bite it. i had the croque madam croissant. the egg was stone cold and so was the rest. i complained that the dish was cold , to which i was rudely told that it was supposed to be cold. i said even the egg? she took the plate away and brought it back 5 seconds later to the same cold dish. will not be returning.”

  “Going downhill - usually a good spot for brunch but not this time. Went this Sunday and was super disappointed - there was nobody in when we arrived early Sunday, no almond milk, no semi skimmed milk, no halloumi, no mushrooms - then the food they did have was so bland and the sourdough was dry and dense. Lots of crumbs and bits of food over the tables and chairs - such a shame.”

  “We love coming to Ginger and Pickles especially for breakfast but today I was disappointed. My breakfast was over cooked, the underside of the sausages was black, the bacon was burnt in some places and my fried eggs were very crispy around the edges. The black pudding I was served had not been thoroughly cooked either. As I was with family celebrating Father's day and everyone else's food was okay, I did not bother to complain however, I was underwhelmed.”

  “Been coming here for a few years now, every time I visit family in Nantwich and it's never disappointed. Thursday didn't disappoint again. A great beef stew, with lovely chunky bread. My wife had had the homemade quiche. Even our dog got a few treats..... it was scrummy🤗😋🤤”

  “Not been for a while. How rough this place is. The windowsills are mouldy the floor dirty paintwork is yellow with age and that’s if it’s even painted! Sat in a corner with some shelves right by us. Never been painted. Plug socket filthy. Old rusty treacle jar with sauces in on the table. Table wobbly. Grandaughter needed the toilet. It was a little out house outside. Freezing cold and hadn’t had a good clean or paint for years by the look of it. Staff were a long time coming to take the order. When the food arrived it was great, cooked to perfection. Scrambled egg and smoked salmon and a child’s cheese on toast . I think the staff in the kitchen are the only good things about this place. Such a shame. Shut down for a month and give it a damn good clean and a good coat of paint and a spruce up!!”

  “What a great cafe in Nantwich. The menu is really good and the quality of food and presentation really good. The service is warm, friendly and efficient. The brown butter banana bread was exquisite. The cafe just needs to be a little more cosy to be a five star.”

  “Allthough part of a chain Ginger and Pickes manages to give a very personal experience is of high quality and well worth seeking out on any visit to Nantwich. I had a pear, cheese and ham buttie and it was fab, with a great eating area to enjoy it. Plenty of cakes too. If you're not too stressed about calories. Recommended...”
