About The Running Fox
The Running Fox is a coffee shop and tearoom on Rothbury Rd in Morpeth, at the southern entrance to Longframlington and opposite The Village Inn and Carr's Corner village store. The kitchen serves homemade pies, quiches and cakes, and its Eggs Benedict uses cheese scones in place of muffins. A small size of the Full English breakfast comes with tattie scone, black pudding and local butcher's sausage, and afternoon tea is also on the menu. Dogs are welcome, so walkers can bring their pets along. Tables can be reserved. The cafe opened in 2016 and was first planned to house the owners' new bakery, which has since moved elsewhere.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws the most praise at this Longframlington cafe, led by the small full English, whose generous plate carries a local butcher's sausage, black pudding, a tattie scone and a runny fried egg. Close behind are an Eggs Benedict served on cheese scones instead of muffins and a Foxless scones breakfast. Reviewers also single out the pies, quiches, sausage rolls, a sourdough loaf and a large cake selection, with huge portions and friendly, welcoming staff mentioned repeatedly. Dogs are welcome, and the covered outdoor area is called pleasant. Complaints are fewer but specific. One takeaway order of a corned beef and potato pie was called bland, the steak pie was only ok, and the foxy crunch was not crunchy, though all of it was eaten cold. A couple of reviewers say a table often has to be booked, and one calls parking the only challenge. One group of fifteen marked a mother's 90th birthday with afternoon tea and praised the attentive team.

“4.5/5 – Cracking breakfast stop at The Running Fox in Longframlington. After an early 07:00 start heading home, pulling into The Running Fox on Rothbury Road in Longframlington was the ideal call. The tearoom vibe is welcoming, completely relaxed, and openly dog-friendly, making it stress-free to settle in after a stretch on the road. What we had: * Two Small Full English Breakfasts (£11.50 each): Sized as the "small" option on the menu, but in true Running Fox fashion, the portions are properly generous. Each plate came with a thick local butcher's sausage, a proper rasher of bacon, a slice of black pudding, a tattie scone, sauteed chestnut mushrooms, a grilled tomato half, a ramekin of baked beans, and a fried egg with a perfectly runny yolk. Served alongside a plate of thick-cut, buttered artisan toast with pots of proper butter, tomato ketchup, and brown sauce. Every component was cooked spot-on with quality ingredients and zero grease. * Drinks: A rich, proper black coffee for me and a pot of tea with milk for Sharon. The food and hot drinks came to around £29.70 total (with small breakfasts at £11.50, filter coffee at £2.95, and loose-leaf pot of tea at £3.70), delivering massive value compared to city prices. An easy 4.5/5 from both of us. Outstanding quality, wholesome Northumbrian cooking, and a thoroughly satisfying way to finish off the mini break before heading back home. A quick disclaimer: Food and hospitality are personal. What works brilliantly for one table might fall flat for another, and this is simply an honest account of our visit. I have no agenda, and I don't write negative reviews for the sake of it. If something fell short, my aim is to be constructive rather than critical. If you love this place or had a completely different experience, drop your thoughts below—it’s only fair to see the full picture. Full transparency: I am neurodiverse and use AI purely as an editor to help organise my thoughts, check flow, and apply polish before posting. The sentiment, experiences, and views are entirely my own.”

“Stopped for breakfast, what a joy. Delicious coffee and food. The staff were very welcoming and service was brisk. You can reserve your table and I would say it’s a good idea to do that as it was busy inside. There was plenty of outdoor dining space when I visited so no problem. The outdoor area is covered and is a really pleasant area to sit and eat. I will be visiting again I thought it was really great place… oh and I took a sourdough loaf home and it was great too”
