Quick info
About Saffron Ltd
In Morecambe, Saffron Ltd is a family-run Indian restaurant on Skipton St where diners bring their own alcohol to go with the meal, as none is sold on site. The menu draws on the cooking of India and Bengal, with lamb Rogan josh, chicken karahi and king prawn madras among the curries. Bombay potatoes come as a side for the table. The kitchen adapts dishes to dietary requirements, and gluten and dairy intolerances are among those it has accommodated. Tables can be booked through Facebook, and the restaurant sends menus over to guests who ask.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the lamb dishes, with one regular praising the lamb rogan josh and craving the lamb vindaloo almost weekly. Close behind are the curries more broadly, including a chicken jalfrezi, a king prawn madras, Bombay potatoes and the chicken karahi, which one visitor says to try. Several describe friendly, welcoming staff, and one mentions a young waitress who worked hard to keep every table happy. Regulars of many years say the takeaway holds up as well as dining in, and one notes the kitchen adapted dishes for a gluten and dairy intolerance. Diners also mention bringing their own drink, since alcohol is not sold, and one warns of steps down into the restaurant. A recurring caveat comes from one reviewer who finds even the karahi and curries sweetened and not like Desi food, while another is unhappy that portion-based extra charges were added without asking, saying the total came to triple the menu price and that chickpeas were priced like chicken. Reviewers also describe a quiet Saturday night that still felt like a nice atmosphere.

“The price they mentioned on menu they charge extra without asking ur permission and once u asked y the amount is triple then they say ohh it’s because of the portion, so first of all they should ask size what you need, can’t do with their wish to charge you more…. also they’re selling chickpeas at the price of chicken, Wow… extremely unhappy……”

“Been coming here for years on and off and tonight was very quiet for a Saturday but the food and service was phenomenal, best curry I’ve had in a long time. Take your own drink which works well for us, service/portions were perfect.”

“My favourite restaurant in the area. I have dined in numerous times as part of a big party and solo... Every single time the food has been perfection. Their lamb Rogan josh is beautiful and I crave their lamb vindaloo on an almost weekly basis. The service is exceptional and team are so friendly. I have more recently been ordering delivery from them and the quality of food and service extends to your front door! The man who delivers the takeaway is a ray of sunshine and the food is just as delicious as in the restaurant. As someone who has very regularly tried many local Indian takeaways over the years, Saffron is the one for consistently yummy takeouts and is my go to every time! Thank you!”
