Quick info
About La Piccola Italia
La Piccola Italia is an Italian restaurant in Monmouth, at 100 Monnow St, where guests walk past a wine cellar and a drinks bar just inside the entrance. The menu serves Italian food across starters, mains, desserts and drinks, and the crème brûlée comes with a hint of orange. An upstairs room is used for group bookings, so larger parties have a space of their own. Reservations are taken for tables. The toilets are at the back of the restaurant, near the kitchen.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often celebrate here, with birthdays, a wedding anniversary and a group meal after an expedition all described, and reviewers repeatedly call the food delicious and beautifully presented. Mains and desserts get the most praise, and one reviewer singles out a crème brulée with a hint of orange and flavours that were subtle rather than hearty. Close behind, several describe friendly service and a restaurant that squeezed them in at short notice, and one mentions the staff bringing out a birthday cake and singing. Reviewers also mention the upstairs room, comfortable chairs and clean toilets. The main complaint comes from one diner who felt rushed for the next reservation, with mains arriving before a starter was finished and coffee offered before the dessert was done. Another reviewer waited a long time to be acknowledged on arrival, and a third says the meals took a while to arrive. Several still describe the prices as fair or very reasonable, and one reports the staff were happy to carry out a birthday cake and sing.

“Made a reservation, was greeted upon arrival and taken to our table. It is a very comfortable layout. With plenty of seating available. You walk past the wine cellar and drinks bar, the toilets are located at the back just before the staff only area/kitchen. We ordered starters, mains, desserts and drinks. All gorgeously presented and prepared. Everything was delicious and we highly recommend.”

“After entering the restaurant it took an unusually long time to be acknowledged, but once I was the service was efficient and friendly. Food was delicious, with flavours that were refreshingly subtle rather than hearty. For example, the crème brulée had a lovely hint of orange that enhanced rather than overpowered. Prices were extremely reasonable as well.”

“Amazing restaurant. Not sure what to say, can’t find anything critical to say. Even the toilets were incredibly clean. Decor of whole restaurant was beautiful, including toilets. Chairs were very comfortable. Cutlery was attractive and correct weight. The food quality was high, and the portion size was fine. The staff were friendly without being too over friendly. The prices seem fair for the area and very decent meal. Perfect way to end an evening in Monmouth.”
