About Seaview Takeaway
Seaview Takeaway is a fish and chips takeaway in Minehead on Warren Rd, next to the beach and opposite the seafront. The main item is cod in batter with chips, and a large fish and chips option is available for bigger appetites. Chicken chunks and chips give another choice, and chips can be ordered in a cone. Kids meals come with a free drink, toy and lolly, so children get a small extra with their dinner. The takeaway is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the cod and chips, describing big flakes of cod in a light, crispy batter and a large, thick piece of fish. Chips are called fluffy rather than hard and chewy, and one diner calls the large fish and chips cooked to perfection. Close behind are the chicken chunks and chips, plus a burger, which one group says all tasted great. Several mention the spot opposite the seafront, and others note it was open in February when little else was. Service is described as fast and friendly even on a busy, hot day, and one family says the kids meals came with a free drink, toy and lolly. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who ordered regular cod and believes they were served a cheaper white fish, probably pollock, with about half the chips undercooked. That diner went next door for cod instead. Another found the fish small and sausage-like in batter, though hot and nice tasting. One reviewer closes by noting a cone of chips was the only option they found in February.

“We had fish, a plentiful portion of chips, chicken chuncks and a burger, which all tasted great and the perfect place opposite the seafront. The menu had a nice selection of food and drinks available. Despite it being busy on a very hot day, service was fast and friendly. Definitely will return when I’m next at the seafront!”

“They claim to serve cod, but when we ordered regular cod, we were given a different white fish—probably pollock—which costs about half as much and, in my opinion, tastes much worse. To make matters worse, about half of the chips were undercooked. We ended up trying the place next door instead (Dana's Fish & Chips). It was only average overall, but at least they served real cod and the chips were decent. Advertising cod and serving what appears to be a cheaper substitute is disappointing and misleading. I wouldn't return. Edit: I've caught fish myself, and I know what cod, haddock, and pollock (or other white fish) look like. It seems that this has become a popular tactic: selling a cheaper fish while charging for a more expensive one. We had decent cod at Dana's Fish & Chips.”
