  “Visited here after reading quality reviews and had seriously high hopes of some quality fish and chips. We ordered large chips, battered plaice, scampi, large battered sausage, mushy peas and curry sauce. Which come in at reasonable price of £24. I’ll start with the fish - fried plaice, really crispy batter golden flakey all over, but did lack any real flavour on the batter, the fish itself was skin on, quality fish flakey and tasty, skin had that real fish taste. Only thing really let it down with the flavour in the batter. Scampi - nice white bait scampi plenty of pieces too with good crisp and solid flavours this was one of the better dishes here. Battered sausage - this was probably the stand out here, crispy good batter but with soft juicy centre, this paired really well with the curry sauce and actually saved the order imo. Chips - this where everything went wrong!! Not sure what’s happened here but wow, undercooked chips without any flavour, bland soft and zero crisp at all. What ever happened to crispy outer with soft fluffy inside? These chips could done with extra 3/4 minutes in the fryer. These chips lacked everything you expect, might aswell sold a bag of boiled potato with skin left on. Really devastating they did not accompany the meal at all, such a big shame. Curry sauce - nice a flavourful, plenty of depth with touch of spice, nothing to go wild over but certainly a good condiment to add more flavours. You’ll probably need 4 tubs to help get through those poor chips tho! Mushy peas - actually a highlight here, well seasoned with half peas and good mush to them aswell, sprinkle of vinegar and these come alive. Would have nailed a couple of these pots for sure. So overall decent fish but poor batter, terrible chips but decent side dishes. It’s a shame it was rated very highly and I got excited for some quality seaside fish and chips but I’m have to drop their score here, maybe it was an off day in the kitchen? But this visit was certainly not 5star! Overall this visit I will score it a 6/10 - freshly prepared and some good stuff here. Let’s hope they change the chips soon!”
