Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast and some mains draw the complaints. One diner found the roasted duck breast portion tiny, with mashed potato instead of the butternut squash purée on the menu and an excess of cherry sauce, and was told that was the portion size. Another Sunday lunch had a few carrots and broccoli to share, missed mash, dirty cutlery and an overcharge for a fourth meal, while a third had food arrive before starters were offered and red cabbage run out despite a preorder.

“A group of 4 of us went to this lovely restaurant last night, it was our first visit. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to our table. Everyone ordered a main course, 3 of them were excellent, well cooked and a good portion size. Unfortunately one of the meals, Anatra Roasted Duck breast was delivered, but the portion size of the roasted duck breast was minuscule and extremely disappointing. It was more like 2 petite slices instead of a decent size duck breast. Additionally there was a small amount of of mashed potato (white) which should been butternut squash purée (orange), There were also only a few small (x 4) cubes of roasted butternut squash and three small tee spoon size of spinach. The whole meal was also swimming in an excessive amount of cherry sauce. To be honest the portion size was more like a starter than a main course, and considering it was £25 you would have expected a more substantial portion. When the two waitresses came over and asked if everything was ok we highlighted the fact that one of the meals was not of the standard expected. Sadly the reply was ‘that’s the portion size it comes as’. If this was the case then it should have said that it was a small portion under the main course menu but it didn’t. Additionally (maybe through lack of waitress experience) there was no solution offered to resolved this to the customers satisfaction. Sadly this ruined an otherwise very enjoyable evening as one person was left waiting for the other friends to finish their meal.”

“Sat outside on a warm summers evening, didn’t book just walked in as we liked the look of it. Good service and very nice meals, reasonable prices for both food and drink, free parking after 6pm or 2 hrs free with a disc from the local shops during the day, just nice easy and pleasant.”

“6 of us ate here recently. It was a busy Friday night, but the service was spot on, we were always attended to promptly, and the food was served without any significant delay. Everyone on our group thought the food was excellent. The sea bass I had was absolutely exceptional. Good selection of wines (although, as usual in most restaurants now, quite pricey). The Argentinian Malbec was superb. Definitely eat here again.”

“Had a lovely meal here on Saturday. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, and the front of house staff were so welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent. We enjoyed the Lindisfarne oysters and the mussels in an nduja sauce with king prawns. Really fresh seafood and genorous portions. Pizzas were great too. There's a nice wine list with plenty of options. Will definitely return if we are back in the area!”
