Quick info
About Sexy Fish Manchester
Sexy Fish Manchester is a seafood restaurant on The Avenue in Spinningfields, Manchester, and the third sister restaurant to the group's sites in Mayfair and Miami's Brickell. The Sekushi tasting menu, also called the taster menu, brings together several dishes, with black cod among them. Dishes come out as they are ready, so they are spaced through the meal rather than arriving all at once. A bar runs alongside the dining room with a large Japanese whiskey selection, and a mixologist prepares cocktails, including rum- and vodka-based ones. A two-course lunch plate is also on offer.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return to the Sekushi tasting menu, singling out the black cod, spicy beef, and fresh sushi and sashimi, with the courses timed so each could be savoured. Close behind are the salmon ceviche, green dragon maki, and a light cheesecake, while the bar's whiskey selection and knowledgeable bartenders draw repeated praise, along with rum and vodka cocktails and a jasmine mocktail. Servers are described as friendly and attentive, and the mirrored, glamorous room is called vibrant and lively, though one finds it noisy with squeaking chairs. The main complaints are about pace and taste. One group at the unlimited brunch waited over an hour for most of nine dishes, raised it with the manager, and still felt wait times need addressing. Another found the tuna tasteless and the blackened cod dry, and a third said the mirrored ladies' toilets were crowded with people taking photos. One lunch diner called the two-course plate solid value, finishing on a grilled sea bass main.

“About as sexy as a wet sock. If you love eating in a Dubai style hotel atrium then this is for you. If you love soulless and vacuous dining then this is for you. The two stars are for the waitresses and waiters and bar staff and chefs who try their best. It’s not their fault they are kitted out in gauche and ugly outfits. This type of utterly personality-less chain is welcome to those that photo and film rather than experience. The food was bland. The table next to us had the blackened cod, which looked dry and dull rather than glossy and silky. Our tuna was tasteless. The noodles were ok. There is the whole of independent Manchester on your doorstep but if this is what you choose then just know you are helping the homogeneous trend of dull. If you love eating in an airport then this is for you.”

“Overall we had a great time in Sexy Fish, we were serviced by Ben and Ayleen who were amazing and manager Stephen was fantastic. Sadly the wait time after we placed our order for food was over an hour - we fully understand that style of food is served when ready however it was unacceptable. We were booked in for unlimited brunch Saturday and were allocated 90mins from 3pm. 9 dishes were ordered, the majority, 6 dishes of the food didn’t come out until 4.10pm! This issue was brought up to staff and finally the manager. Again overall we liked this but wait times need to be addressed to enhance the customer experience.”

“We called in early afternoon just for a drink as we had a restaurant booking elsewhere. The place is lovely inside, decorated to a high and unique level. We sat at the bar and were really well looked after by Alexandru. He was very helpful when discussing our drink choices. He was very knowledgeable about the vast array of whiskeys behind the bar, (I’ve no idea how he remembers them all!) as well as the history of the company. It was so lovely chatting with him, and learning new things, that we ended up staying for another drink!”

“An Absolutely Sensational Experience! We visited Sexy Fish Manchester to celebrate my wife’s graduation, and we were completely blown away. The decor is unreal, absolutely awesome and visually stunning from the moment you walk in, making it the perfect venue for a special occasion. The food was sensational, with every single dish immaculately presented like a work of art. We started with the delightful Miso Soup & Steamed Edamame, which was a perfectly executed opener. Next came the Baby Gem & Avocado Salad with its incredible kick of smoked chilli soy, and the Courgette Tempura with a sensational Yuzu Aioli dip packed with flavour. The Salmon Ceviche and Green Dragon Maki were massive highlights; they looked beautiful on the plate and tasted unbelievably fresh, vibrant, and crisp. For our mains, the Salmon Teriyaki was flawless with a rich glaze, and the Whole Baby Chicken was beautifully cooked, incredibly tender, and bursting with flavour. What truly elevated our night, however, was the phenomenal service from our waiter, Xristos. His attentiveness was next-level; he was always there right when we needed him, smiling and providing amazing customer service. His knowledge of the menu was deeply impressive, he knew exactly what each dish was cooked in, down to the ingredients in the sauces, and effortlessly guided us through the halal options. We don't normally order mocktails because they tend to be too sweet, but Xristos recommended the Jasmine and B Light. They did not disappoint! They were perfectly balanced, refreshing, and not overly sweet at all. An unforgettable graduation celebration thanks to the brilliant food, gorgeous presentation, unreal atmosphere, and Xristos's world class hospitality. We will definitely be back!”

“The £21 2-course lunch plate is a solid value. I had the miso soup, salmon and tuna sashimi and the grilled sea bass as the main. The fish were excellent. Service was prompt, professional, and welcoming. The atmosphere was upscale Asian modern with a dramatic flare. A great place for a date or special celebration (or just an especially nice lunch).”
