About The Walkden Bar
Family run since 1985, The Walkden Bar is a fish and chips takeaway in Manchester, at 24 Walkden Rd. It began as a chip shop, and the menu has since grown to include kebabs, burgers and Chinese dishes. The kitchen is split into separate sections for the chip shop, the grill and Chinese food, so each style has its own part of the menu. Fish and chips comes with peas, and the donner lamb is served on a tcake with chip shop chips, mayo and chilli sauce. Sweet and sour chicken represents the Chinese section. Kebab meat from the grill comes with naan bread, and burgers are also made there.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers who praise The Walkden Bar point first to the chip shop classics: fish and chips with peas, and chip shop chips with mayo and chilli sauce alongside a donner lamb on a teacake. Close behind come the sweet and sour chicken and a box one visitor called next level, with several describing food that is freshly made, hot and generous in portion. One reviewer notes weekends get busy and suggests arriving early. The complaints are substantial, though. Chips draw the most criticism, described as soggy and flavourless in one account and hard in another, with one longtime customer saying portions have shrunk while prices climbed. Others report chewy dinner meat, a thin, hard nan and a burger that was not cooked properly, and several call the prices too high for what arrives. One reviewer says items have been missing from the bag on three takeaway orders, and another describes a male staff member berating them in front of other customers. Still, one customer's order mix-up was sorted by the manager without fuss, and another had their food wrapped in tinfoil to keep it warm for the journey back to Bolton.

“£7.20 for sausage chips and gravy! They will say it's cost of living crisis. I say it's profiteering. In the chippy in boothtown its £4.80 and just as good.”

“Absolutely shocking attitude and behaviour from a male staff member last night - was asked to speak up as he couldn't hear us then got berated for it in front of other customers and staff!! To be told sorry hes on medication......not my problem., this is one sure way of losing loyal customers of over 35 years as we will not be calling again.”

“Use to love this chippy but the last 2 times I've been chips have been hard , my only advise is cook the chips longer next time please and then I'll change my review”

“Awful price considering how shocking the food was. Chips were all very soggy and had 0 flavour and the meat inside my burger was even cooked properly. Wouldn’t recommend ordering food from here.”
