About Sues Fish and Chip Shop
Sues Fish and Chip Shop is a fish and chips takeaway in Manchester, at 1 Chappell Rd, that serves Chinese dishes alongside the chippy menu. The fish side of the menu includes cod and chips, which comes with mushy peas. On the Chinese side, char siu sits next to noodles and stir fry, and Chinese-style curry sauce is served over chips, so one order can mix both styles. The shop is walk-in, and payment is cash only, with no option to pay by card. A set meal for one is also on the menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the salt and pepper chips, though one finds them far too salty. Fish and chips get a mixed reception: one reviewer describes freshly fried cod with crispy batter and well seasoned mushy peas, while another found the fish small with very thin batter. Close behind are the Chinese dishes, with a proper curry sauce and a set meal praised, and noodles, char siu and spring rolls ordered by one family. Fried rice draws the most complaints, described as mushy and tasteless, and the chicken was called bland in the same review. Friendly, polite staff and quick service come up repeatedly, as do good prices, and one reviewer notes food that arrives hot with the order correct. One reviewer points out that card payment is not an option. Several say they came back after another chippy let them down, and one family reports no stomach trouble afterward.

“Unfortunately this will be much first and last time the salt ans pepper chips are so salty I feel my blood pressure may have gone up. The chicken was bland as was the special fried rice. Maybe my expectations were too high. But I currently need 2 pints of water. Wasn't worth the £20 spent unfortunately”

“The food was great, it was proper Chinese curry sauce, the one i used to have back in the day. I got the set meal for 1 and it was worth the money, it was so nice, my partner had chicken fried rice chips curry sauce, and he loved it too. Not expensive, polite staff, nice food.”

“It’s a takeaway, so don’t expect to dine in. The food is good, and consistent, which I always think is important for a food place. The food is always hot and they’ve always got the order correct. I don’t think they’re either cheap or overpriced, but it’s important to call out that there is no option to pay by card and I find this limiting. We typically get a mix of western food (fish and chips) and Chinese food (noodles, char siu, mixed stir fry, spring rolls, king prawn, etc) with a variety of sauces/styles. Never had any complaints from my family and no “dodgy tummy” issues later. In short, happy to eat here and happy to recommend to others.”
