Quick info
About Dave's Hot Chicken
Dave's Hot Chicken is a chicken restaurant in Manchester at Unit 1, and its concept began in 2017 as an East Hollywood parking-lot pop-up started by four childhood friends, which drew long lines. The menu centres on chicken tenders with a choice of spice levels, including medium, hot and a Reaper flavour. Each order comes with a slice of white bread under the chicken. Dave's Sauce arrives in a small pot for dipping, and honey packets are on hand for anyone who wants to balance the heat. Loaded fries sit alongside the tenders, with sliders, burgers, milkshakes and slushies also on the menu. Orders are placed at self-order terminals rather than at a counter, and the seating is upstairs.

“Had a really good experience at Dave’s Chicken! 🍗 The service from Taha was honestly 10/10. He was so friendly, welcoming and approachable, and made sure I was okay after I ordered the Reaper flavour. He was really attentive and genuinely seemed to care about my experience, which I really appreciated. He definitely deserves a special mention! ⭐️ The food was really good as always. I wouldn’t recommend the Reaper flavour though 😂 — and that’s saying something because I LOVE very spicy food! It was honestly so spicy that it hurt my throat, and I’ve never had anything quite that spicy before! 🌶️😂 If you like spicy food, I’d usually recommend their hot chicken because it’s normally a really good choice, but the Reaper is on another level! The customer service from the rest of the staff was also 10/10 — everyone was friendly and helpful. The only thing I personally didn’t enjoy was the chips, but that’s just my preference when it comes to that type of chips. Overall, a really good experience and I’d definitely go back! 😊”

“First time for my sister and I, we were pleasantly surprised! We knew this place from social media but didn’t knew they were a location in Manchester. We recommended and a special thank to Bisma for your warm service !”

“My first time trying and unlikely to go back. You can see from the photo that there’s a part that over cooked so although the rest was moist and tasty, you had to get through a chewy jerk like layer. Probably overcooked it which is strange given it’s all cooked to order and it was super quiet. The heat was ok but I won’t be trying the viral hot versions. The tenders were decent size though and good value for money. Shame that both tenders had this tough edge to them and I went to Popeyes afterwards and although they don’t have the different levels of heat, it was so much better there. From what I saw, the place was clean and inviting. Shame that the food (the main draw) didn’t deliver.”

“If we're rating solely on the quality and taste of the food, then I'm inclined to give the highest marks. However, where Dave's Hot Chicken fails is on the presentation and on the price. You're paying far too much for the amount of food you get, no matter how good it is. You'd be looking at spending at least £15 per person to get something substantial. The presentation of the food is also lacking. I know it's a part of their shtick, but seeing a small bun or a slice of white bread with your chicken puts a damper on the whole thing. The loaded chips/fries were super crispy. It looks like there's a thin layer of batter on the crinkle cut chips, which elevates the experience. The chips are super crunchy and not oily at all. The batter provides some protection against the oil and as a result you're left with a delightful and crispy piece of potato. The chicken is also very good. It's a shame that the accompanying bun is so small. The lack of cheese or the paltry amount of sauce is also a cause for concern. I'd still say it's worth at least one visit to experience the quality of the food. It's a solid choice if you're not that worried about the price. I personally will be going back next time I'm in the area. I'd probably eschew from getting the loaded fries option and go with something that makes a bit more sense in terms of the price to food ratio.”

“We had some delicious loaded fries and milkshakes here after the cinema recently. The place is clean and has a cool vibe. The prices are a bit higher than other chicken takeaways but this is easily justified by the superior quality. The signature and honey sauces were both very tasty.”

“TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.”
