Quick info
About Kro Bar
Kro Bar is a Danish-flavoured beer garden on Oxford Rd in Manchester, set in an old building across the street from The Academy. The kitchen serves Danish dishes, including bøfsandwich, plaice with remoulade and a Danish fish platter, which gives the menu a clear Danish focus. Breakfast is served late, and brunch and roast dinners are also on the menu. Vegan and vegetarian options run across most of the menu, breakfast included. Live music is part of the programme. The premises are large, with an upstairs area and a second room. Customers order at the bar and pay in advance, and the staff keep track of the table number.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the beer and drink selection, and several stop in for a pint before a gig at the venue across the road. Close behind are the burgers and hot dogs. One diner praises the dirty burger on the two-for-one Tuesday deal, and another rates the nacho hot dog above the dirty one, alongside a Danish fish platter called incredible. Vegan and vegetarian versions of mac n cheese, hot dogs and breakfast are credited for coming without an upcharge, and the patios, beer garden vibe and friendly staff come up repeatedly. Food quality is the recurring weak point. One reviewer describes tough, grey ribs that smelled old, overcooked facon and chewy pitta, while a Danish diner found the bøfsandwich had soggy bread and the fish fillet arrived without remoulade. Others mention a bottled-tasting salad dressing and a breakfast that arrived only warm. Because orders are paid for at the bar, one reviewer says nobody checked on the table after the food arrived, so the tough ribs were never raised.

“Came here before seeing Steel Panther on Tuesday night and I’m glad I chose it. The look of it on the outside, the photos of the food,I knew I had to go and check it out. I got a dirty burger,I was told it was BOGOF so I regret getting the 2nd burger as nobody else was hungry enough to have it so I did and was stuffed for the night!! But the food was excellent, the staff were nice and the vibe of the place was amazing. Will definitely be back.”

“I celebrated my birthday at Kro Bar recently. They generously let me book an amazing room for my party which was a fantastic atmosphere! The food and drinks were delicious and well priced and the staff were professional and friendly. I would definitely book and visit Kro Bar again and would recommend Kro to all my friends and network.”

“Friendly place with reasonable prices and a nice atmosphere. And they have vegan and vegetarian options for almost everything on the menu from Mac n cheese to the hot dogs to the breakfast, all without the vegan upcharge that many places have. Two nice patios on a sunny day, one out front and one out back.”

“Nice beer garden vibe and the Danish fish platter was incredible Back the following evening for the 241 hotdogs. Nacho one beats the dirty one by a country mile Good tunes on nicely mellow”
