About Stuart's Of Driffield
Stuart's Of Driffield is a fish and chips takeaway in Malton, found at 56 Castlegate. The main items sold are fish and chips, and the business is also listed as a fast food restaurant. Sausage is on the menu as another choice alongside them. Food is packed as takeout in paper, so orders are made to be carried out and eaten elsewhere. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers mostly describe greasy, disappointing fish and chips. Several say the chips were stale, rock hard or tasted reheated, and the fish came out dark brown, soggy or dry, with grease soaking through the paper. A few call it overpriced and small, and one notes there was no cod on the menu. Service and speed get credit from some. One longtime regular says it used to be good.

“Service was great and the food came out very quickly. Problem was the actual food itself was disgusting. Chips were stale and really greasy felt like they were cooked yesterday and re-fried. Sausage was not fresh either and the fish was really greasy as well. NOT HAPPY! Especially at the price as well”

“We dropped in today and got some fish n chips and the fish was very small and the chips were terrible, they were not fresh chips as hard as/ dry I’d out !, very expensive fish n chips too , as we live so far to take them back thought I’d let people know ☹️”

“Now Castlegate Fisheries No cod on the menu. Chips undercooked but charged extortionate prices. They should Google the products they're selling in order to get it right. Fish was ok but a bit dry. It's like they based their prices on Thompson's on A64 but thought they could put in the minimum amount of effort and used the cheapest ingredients. Lived in Malton 15 years and always used Stuart's, won't be going again.”

“Seriously avoid if this becomes the norm here. Used to be good but this was unacceptably bad. Fish completely inedible.”
- Ted Hughes
“The chef was on his phone on a video call. While trying to cook. Got home and the fish is discussing. Waste of 40 pound”
