Quick info
About The Secret Garden Cafe
The Secret Garden Cafe is a cafe in Loughborough at 17a High St, entered through a single doorway that opens onto a small gardened area. Inside, the cafe has indoor seating, with a covered area and an open garden beyond it. Breakfast runs through the morning, with an English Breakfast and an Omelette with Cheese and Mushrooms on the menu, and a limited lunch menu follows. Rolls, sandwiches and bacon cobs fill out the daytime range, and the sausages and burgers come from a local farm. Home made cakes are baked to go alongside the coffee. Dogs are welcome, which suits owners looking for a stop with their pet. The cafe opens Tuesday to Saturday, daytime only, and closes on Mondays and Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out the bacon cobs and an all day breakfast that one diner says looked great, while another calls it a lovely start to the day. Sandwiches and rolls are described as tasty and well prepared, and one reviewer praises sausages and burgers from a local farm. Drinks get notice too, including a hot chocolate called especially nice, hot tea and some different coffees. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and accommodating, and the setting is a single doorway opening onto a small garden, with indoor seating, a covered area and open garden tables. One reviewer describes a very long wait for a sandwich, and another notes that choice can be limited around lunchtime because the cafe is popular, with the menu narrowing to lunch items once breakfast ends. Home made cakes are called fab, and the cafe sells small single person Christmas cakes, though anything larger has to be ordered ahead.

“This really is secret as the entrance door is a single doorway leading in to a small, gardened area. There is indoor seating as well as an outdoor covered area and an open garden area. Take your pick but the choice maybe limited as the cafe is popular, especially around lunchtime. Breakfast is served upto 11.30, then menu is limited to lunch items. We had rolls and drinks that were well prepared and tasty. If you are in the area this hidden gem is worth a visit.”
