Customer Review Summary
The Seafood Boil draws the strongest praise, described by one diner as an explosion of flavor with fish and vegetables infused together, and reviewers repeatedly return to seafood done well, from a monkfish and lobster soup starter to a rotating catch of the day and a steak and seafood combo plate. Several also single out the festive tasting menu with paired drinks, and a couple mention steak cooked to order, including one guest who asked for sirloin cooked blue and called it among the best they'd had. Service comes up again and again as attentive, friendly, and efficient, with staff welcoming families, anniversary diners, and out of town visitors alike, and the fireplace and cozy interior are noted as adding to the setting. Several reviewers mention booking ahead given the restaurant's small size. No recurring complaints appear across the reviews. One couple closed out their wedding anniversary meal saying they would definitely be back.

“**Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5 stars)** **A culinary dream – 10 out of 10!** We had a truly fantastic experience at Catch 79 today. The grilled "Catch of the Day" was prepared to perfection, but the absolute highlight was the Seafood Boil – an explosion of flavor where the variety of fish and vegetables were perfectly infused together in the oven. The quality here is incredibly high without being pretentious. We were particularly impressed by the service: the staff is exceptionally attentive, professional, and welcoming – a standard you rarely find. It is clear that the owner and also the Great Chef in one person(Respect!) runs this gem with an immense commitment to quality and passion. A true jewel in Lossiemouth!”

“Absolutely delicious, fresh local seafood with rotating catch of the day. Ordered a steak and seafood combo plate that was all incredible. The wines were also excellent with the meal. Atmosphere was nice and cozy. One of our best meals in Scotland; hands down.”
