About Bravas Tapas

Bravas Tapas is a Spanish tapas restaurant on Saint Katherine Docks, with a terrace that overlooks the marina. The menu runs through small plates meant for sharing, including patatas bravas, octopus, and lamb chops, alongside prawns, foie gras, pan con tomate, and pork belly. Torrija appears on the dessert list. A wine list built around Spanish bottles, including Rioja and Albariño, is available by the glass or bottle. Reservations are recommended, and tables can be booked in advance. The step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, and the outdoor seating on the terrace gives diners the option to eat by the water. The room fills up and grows loud once at capacity, with tables set close together.

Customer Review Summary

Octopus emerges as the dish most reviewers single out, repeatedly described as tender and well-cooked, often paired with the Albariño or Rioja from a wine list several call a highlight. Close behind, the lamb chops draw praise for flavor and delicacy from some diners, though others report the fat arriving raw or the chops undercooked and slimy on a given visit. Pork belly, foie gras, patatas bravas, and the torrija dessert also earn specific mentions, and the pan con tomate and gazpacho served in a wine glass stand out for presentation. Several describe the waterfront setting and outdoor seating by the dock as part of the draw, and service is generally called attentive, though a few note inconsistent welcomes or being jostled at crowded tables. One visit describes padron peppers arriving mostly raw and under-seasoned, tinned anchovies served in the tin, and a much lower experience than a prior visit at the same table, while another flags small portions and basic shrimp for the price. Several reviewers mention booking ahead or arriving early as the room fills quickly, and one diner ultimately says they would return for the food but during a quieter time.

“Had a great meal at Bravas Tapas in St Katharine Docks. The food was excellent from start to finish, and the location by the marina creates a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. A special mention goes to the Albariño wine, which was a perfect match with the octopus. The octopus was tender, well-cooked, and full of flavor. We also tried the beef rib and the potatoes, both of which were delicious and beautifully prepared. The quality of the ingredients, presentation, and flavors made for a very authentic tapas experience. Combined with the lovely waterfront setting and attentive service, it is a fantastic spot for either a casual lunch or an evening meal with friends. Highly recommended if you're visiting St Katharine Docks and looking for great Spanish food and wine. Will definitely be back.”

“Arrived late evening and was shown straight to a table. The lamb chops were fantastic as was the foie gras. We wanted to know how the lamb was so tasty and delicate and our server was happy to take time explaining how it was cooked. Good wine list and opted for an inexpensive rose. Suited our taste as a very dry and highly fruited rose wine. Went back to this restaurant on our final night in London and the tapas was again superb. Not busy inside. Very good and friendly staff. For a restaurant in St Katherine's dock the price seemed appropriate.”

“We were a walk-in on a Saturday night and we're able to sit outside. The restaurant was fairly busy, but we were in no rush, so happy to go with the flow. Food was amazing, great selection, including drinks and in a wonderful setting. The service was good, the girls worked tirelessly to keep the small plates moving, and they were all so good. The prawns were fantastic, as we're the lamb chops and the pineapple and fennel salad, but I would recommend all the dishes we had. Well worth a second (& third) visit. Thanks for a wonderful evening.”

“Service here is fast and has the traditional dishes to expect but well made. Jason ballota, patatas bravas, cheeses, and best lamb chops of my life. The Pam aum tomakut tasted like a whipped emultion of tomatos and olive oil vs grated and presented like hot gazpacho but have had it here before the classic way and it was phenomenal. Make it a stop if you can in St. KATHERINES docks.”

“Sen sa tio nal! Of course it did help that we were advised and looked after by the owner. Yes it did. His care, attention to detail and guidance - 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 top performance. Yes it did help that they opened a secluded romantic space for our celebration with the loved one. Now food and drink: Riojas - amazing. Both red and white. 💯 Food: gambas - interesting, delicious. Octopus - lovely. Crusted sesame tuna - oh hello - we have a very interesting one. Patatas bravas - classic. And now to two surprises: Pan con tomate - sounds basic, but oh my oh my. And Foie Gras “Crema catala” - 💯 must try for anyone interested in food and flavours. Top marks!”
