Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the sourdough pizza, praising a light, thin, crispy crust, with the margherita (including a buffalo mozzarella version and a spicy one) and an artichoke and blue cheese pizza named specifically. Close behind is the home-made tiramisu, which several mention as the way to finish a meal. The Monday half-price and Friday two-pizza offers come up as a draw, and a few describe friendly, welcoming staff, including one who offered to charge a phone. Tomato sauce draws mixed comments: one reviewer likes its sweetness, while others find it tangy, under-seasoned, or wanting more intensity. Service is the recurring complaint. One diner waited 15 minutes before waving down a server who never checked back, another left before the food arrived on a quiet evening without staff noticing, and a third felt plates were cleared too eagerly while someone was still eating. One reviewer also questioned the cost of canned beers. Several of the same reviewers who rate the pizza highly still say the service can be improved, and one busy Monday booking ended with staff reaching for plates before the table had finished.

“I give this place 2 stars solely for the pizza crust. Whenever I try a new Italian pizzeria, I always order a Margherita as a baseline test. While the crust here was actually quite good, the sauce fell short—it lacked depth of flavor, needed seasoning, and was a bit too tangy. What really ruined the experience, though, was the service. After being told to sit wherever I liked, I was left waiting for 15 minutes before I finally had to wave down the server, who was just idling around. She never once checked back on me during the meal. Great crust, but the poor service and disappointing sauce mean I won’t be returning.”

“The wait took so long we left before the food came. The service was so bad they did not notice we had left. All of this on a quiet Tuesday evening. The drinks menu was hilarious, charging £6/7 for cans of beer. Do not recommend”

“Lovely friendly owner who has passion for pizza which is nice to see. They make great sourdough pizza, dough is fresh, crispy, nice crunch and base is cooked great, I like their tomato base too, has a nice sweetness to it. I went for margherita with buffalo mozzarella and it was brilliant, would definitely recommend.”

“It's now my regular spot for lunch. The pizza is just excellent, super tasty and light, you have plenty of options and add-ons so every time it can be different, and the home-made tiramisu is just top class, a must have to end the meal. The place is welcoming and cozy and you just can't beat the Monday half-price and Friday £15 for two pizza offers. Must try for everyone.”

“Positively surprised by this pizza, clearly underrated on Google. The pizza is very light, with a really nice, thin dough. The ingredients are good; the tomato could be a bit more intense and slightly more acidic, but it’s still enjoyable. Absolutely recommended.”

Good to know

“A local staple of Ladywell village, our chilled and rustic restaurant is ideal for after work bites, family get togethers and date nights alike. We also offer a secluded intimate private party and dining space, nestled downstairs – for those really special occasions. At Mamma Dough, we believe in two things… great pizza and great hospitality. Inspired by Italian mothers, known for their generosity, care, and dedication, we infuse those same values into everything we do. Our Executive Chef Antonio crafts our signature 48-hour fermented sourdough daily, keeping our “Mamma” happy and our pizzas fresh and full of flavour. Meanwhile, our team every guest feels at home, making sure they leave with a full belly and a big smile.”
