Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the Scotch egg starter, described as huge and soy-infused, and several call it mouth watering. Close behind are the steaks, with the côte de boeuf for two and the ribeye both praised as cooked to order in generous portions, along with a beef dish served with smoked marrow and olive oil mash. Sourdough with smoked butter, scallops, a fish dish with Thai green curry foam, lemon posset and a knickerbocker glory with its chantilly cream also earn mentions. Staff are called friendly and attentive, and one reviewer notes dogs are made welcome in the bar area. One visitor was far less pleased. Their Sunday roast beef was meant to be rare but was partly raw and very chewy, the vegetarian option was essentially a plate of vegetables, and every fish option was unavailable. They still praised the service. Another reviewer found the Sunday roast equally impressive, and one server made an iced coffee on request even though it was not on the menu.

“We have visited Plas on many occasions and consider it to be the best place to eat for miles around. The food is exceptional ! I had Jake with a thai Green curry foam last night - the fish was cooked to perfection and the flavours in the fish were amazing. Highly recommend this place”

“The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, and the tip was left purely to recognise the good service. Sadly, the food was a real let-down. The Sunday roast was particularly disappointing. The beef was supposed to be rare, but parts of it were actually raw, and it was extremely chewy. At £26, it simply wasn’t good enough. The vegetarian option was very unimaginative — essentially a plate of vegetables for almost £20. Unfortunately, all of the fish options were also unavailable, leaving very little choice. The setting is lovely, and it’s a comfortable eatery in a beautiful village. However, today’s meal was nowhere near the standard we would normally expect, particularly given the prices. A disappointing experience on this occasion. 5/10.”

“Exceptional food, lovely premises and friendly hosts and service. Highly recommend this place and I also felt it was very good value. Soy-infused Scotch Egg to start, Jacob’s Ladder of Beef with smoked marrow and olive oil mash and lemon posset to finish - excellent. Staff are dog friendly too - we ate in the bar area where dogs are made to feel very welcome. Superb!”

“We had a brilliant meal here today, both my scotch egg starter and beef Jacob’s ladder were mouth watering. This restaurant is a gift to the area!”

“Recommended by our AirBnb hosts during our weekend away in Wales. The food was excellent, myself and my husband shared the sourdough with smoked butter and padron peppers to start and we both had Ribeye Steaks for our mains which were both cooked perfectly to order. Very generous portions so unfortunately no room for dessert! We were surprised it wasn't busier having visited on a Friday evening but couldn't fault service or food and would highly recommend.”
