Customer Review Summary

The two for one deal on main meals is what reviewers raise most, and it anchors their praise of generous, freshly cooked plates. Diners name the steak and ale pie, fish and fish and chips, mixed grill, sizzling beef fajitas, beef meatball jalfrezi, lasagna and a three fish special, with the chunky chips and tender meat singled out. One reviewer calls the Guinness the best they have had, and the quirky, eclectic decor gets repeated mentions. Several describe it as always busy, and one suggests booking, noting Sunday lunch is not part of the deal. Staff draw the most mixed comments. Many find them friendly and helpful, including a welcome for a dog, but a few describe unsmiling bar staff, one saying a solo drink left them feeling unwelcome and another saying some staff speak as if a customer's presence is a problem. One party was offered the chance to order before a very large group, so their meals arrived without a long wait.

“Had a short stay in North Wales and this place was recommended to us by the hotel we stayed in and it was a fantastic recommendation. The food was exceptional, we had the mixed grill and the portion size was enormous and such good value for money and the meat was so tender. You get 2 for 1 on main meals and with that you can’t go wrong. Lovely interior and very quirky and we loved it. Special mention to Tara our waitress, she was outstanding and made us laugh every time she appeared at our table, we loved her!!!”

“Excellent pub. Best guinness I've had. The meals are nice too. Only quibble is staff could be a bit more smiley behind the bar. Saw them being bubbly behind the bar between each other but a slightly different facade with the customers. Nothing major but just an observation”

“The Old Station Hotel is an interesting pub, with quirky/themed decor which we liked. (We didn't stay there) I think it gets quite busy so in peak season I would recommend booking but we called in on the off chance that they could fit us in, which they did. The staff offered us the chance to order our meals before they took the order for a very large party which I thought was great (obviously we could have been waiting a very long time for our meals otherwise) Food was really tasty, obviously freshly cooked and really hot - the best home made chunky chips! Good value food & drink, plenty of choice. I had the steak & ale pie, hubby had fish & chips - both meals were part of the two for one deal. We both thoroughly enjoyed them. I have to say I had one of the best meals I've had in a long time! Generous portions so no room for dessert. 5* Would definitely recommend!”

“A really well presented establishment with great curb appeal and an eclectic interior decor. I visited at tea time on a random Monday in September 2026 and it soon became very busy for food. I chose lasagna (£16.50) and wasn't disappointed. You pay at the bar for food just before you leave.”

“Fantastic place to eat. Great menu from around £15. To £35 for mains. I LOVE THE 3 FISH SPECIAL All meals are 2 for 1. Pay for the most expensive. Sunday lunch is Brilliant not 2 for 1. Main course beef or pork or both. £10. BOOKING IS ADVISED.”
