About Lakeside Cafe and Catering
Lakeside Cafe and Catering is a British restaurant in Llandrindod Wells, with balcony seating and a conservatory that both overlook the lake. The café upstairs on the balcony serves the more substantial food, including breakfast and homemade dishes, with carrot cake among the bakes. Downstairs, a shop and ice cream sit alongside a simpler selection of sandwiches and cake. The coffee list includes flat whites and caramel lattes. The café is open daily, daytime only.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the lake views, whether from the outside tables, the conservatory or a window seat, with birds, water sports and a short walk mentioned alongside. Close behind is the friendly staff, described as cheerful and welcoming. Food and drink draw steady praise too: the carrot cake, a flat white, a caramel latte called the best ever, and creamed tarragon mushrooms on bread at breakfast, with one reviewer calling the food homemade and fresh. The caveats are specific. One reviewer found the selection very limited, just a few sandwiches and some cake, and only learned afterwards of a cafe upstairs on a balcony serving more substantial food. Another found the place full and noisy, and objected to paying an extra charge for oat milk in three coffees. One visit was met with dense fog that hid the lake, though the staff still greeted the service with a smile. Several reviewers suggest sitting outside or by the windows for the views.

“Again, my first time to be here. Nice place. A busy area which is good for the business. I will come back to bring my children here.”

“A lovely little spot by the lake, with a simple menu and quick service. The place was full when we ate, and also pretty noisy - if the weather suits, opt for a table outside, where the views are best appreciated. The carrot cake was excellent, as was the Flat White, though I didn't appreciate the £1.80 extra that I had to pay to have oat milk in our 3 coffees.”

“Very limited selection of food, just a few sandwiches and a bit of cake. Coffee was good and the outside seating was lovely, watching the wildlife on the lake. We found out after our visit that there is a proper cafe upstairs on a balcony which served more substantial food”

“We went here twice for breakfast. Service was very good. Staff represented Wales very well for what they’re known for - very friendly. I’ve only been to different parts of Wales in the last 30 years and apart from the scenery/ nature, it was always the Welsh people who left me with such positive impression. They’re still the same friendly people. Food here was good. Standard breakfast. On the second time for breakfast, I had the creamed tarragon mushroom and bread. Very tasty! Choose a table by the windows - lovely relaxing views of the lake.”
