About New Hong Kong
In Liverpool, New Hong Kong is a Chinese takeaway at 221 Green Ln that runs English chippy food alongside its Chinese menu, so a single order can combine a dish like sausage and onion gravy with a Chinese main. The kitchen cooks food fresh to order, and service is at the counter, where the staff work behind the counter. Customers can sample the sauces before choosing, which makes it easy to settle on a dish like 3 meat in black bean sauce. The special fried rice comes topped with 3 king prawns. The menu also includes vegetarian dishes.

Customer Review Summary
Fried rice draws the most praise. One reviewer calls the special fried rice the best in Liverpool, with three king prawns in it, and another enjoyed the three meat in sauce with fried rice, chicken fried rice and spring rolls. Reviewers also describe generous portions, food cooked fresh to order, and a spotlessly clean shop. Opinion on the chips is split. One reviewer praises them, while others describe chips cooked in old fat or like warm-ups from days before, and one found the sausage and onion gravy inedible. Complaints reach the Chinese dishes too: tough ribs, salt and pepper ribs and three meat black bean with no flavour, and a chicken chow mein with only a handful of chicken pieces. One reviewer reports being shouted at by the woman behind the counter, and another finds it expensive next to other chippies. Several describe the staff as friendly and always smiling, including one who made a dish without onions for a reviewer on a restricted diet, and another who let a customer try a couple of sauces before choosing.

“Best local takeaway! Chinese food is fantastic, chips are amazing, portions are really generous so the value is really good, and the staff are super friendly and accommodating and let us try a couple of sauces before we made our decision”

“Got some chips sausage and onion gravy, everything was horrendous, the chips were cheap potatoes cooked in old fat, the sausage was the cheapest you could get and un edible plus the gravy tasted awful! Although I was starving at the time i actually couldn’t eat their food whatsoever and binned it. Wouldn’t even give it to my dog!”

“Ordered chicken chow mein Would be nice if there was more than ten small sliced chicken bits in it , noodles where nice though but no chicken would not buy this again from here not good value”
