  “The best experience I had in Leicester. Great atmosphere, service was top notch. I can say I almost felt like a celebrity, the way we were handled was so so warm. I forgot his name but he spoke fluent Italian and he helped us with a choice of wine. He was so funny and friendly made it such an awesome experience. Definitely Recommend if you love Italian food and an amazing atmosphere.”

  “It was our first time here. The service was great, all of them were friendly, nice and helpful. We got great recommendations from the drinks menu and the food was incredible, will definitely be coming back another time!”

  “Order your pizza here if you want to ruin your evening and be left without a proper meal. I ordered two pizzas — both arrived stone cold, and I had to cook and reheat them in my own oven just to be able to eat them at all. That is completely unacceptable for a restaurant like this! The dough was undercooked, and the toppings were dry and tasteless — nothing like authentic Italian food. Very disappointed, total waste of money. Would not recommend! It was also extremely unpleasant to receive excuses for substandard food and have the blame shifted onto delivery. As you can see, if the pizza had been hot and freshly made, it would never have turned into a lump of cold, tasteless dough in that amount of time.”

  “Noel, our waiter, was absolutely brilliant.so friendly, attentive, and made us feel really well looked after throughout our visit. The service truly stood out. The food and atmosphere were both lovely, and everything was enjoyable from start to finish. We will definitely be coming back again.”

  “I have eaten at four San Carlo restaurants many times over the years. Birmingham since it open in the 1990s, Leicester, Manchester and Bristol. However, I have always preferred Leicester as they consistently offer a luxury food experience with excellent customer care. My favorite dish in recent years as been the Tagliolini Lobster which has declined in portion size especially at Manchester and Birmingham where it is more like a starter than a main course. They have also changed the sause from tomatoe, brandy and cream to a lobster bisque across all restaurants which is unfortuneate because theire authentic tomatoe sauce is full of flavor and exceptional and provides a unique cutting edge over competitor restaurants. However, Mana was an exceptional host and provided outstanding customer service and finding a solution to meet my high expectations. In addition I was celebrating my birthday and she surprised me with Meringata alle Fragole with a candle it was amazing! Her colleague (front of house) was exceptional too. Overall a birthday celebration to remember. I strongly recommend San Carlo (Leicester). Thank you Mana for such a fantistic dining experience.”

  “Calming, luxury experience with a great vibe. The servers went above and beyond and were great with any modifications made to the dishes. It’s definitely a great spot for date nights, family meals or celebrations with its 5* quality. Highly recommend.”

  “We decided not to cook tonight (Thursday 4th Sept) so we fancied trying San Carlo on Granby Street. A poor choice on our part! We were hungry so we bypassed starters (antipasti) and opted for mains. I chose the Veal Milano and my better half had the Lobster Ravioli. We also ordered the bruschetta and pattas frites as sides. The veal simply came as a slab of unseasoned breaded meat and the lobster ravioli came without lemon, but did have its own sauce. I was utterly underwhelmed by the whole meal. Whilst my partners meal tasted okay (just okay), mine was bland and boring and certainly not worth the inflated costs. There are much better Italian restaurants in Leicester rather than this one! The venue itself looks nice and reasonably classy, but the chairs are awful and make you feel like a kid at school, they are that low. We didn’t bother stopping for dessert and chose a different venue the same evening for something sweet.”
