About Leek Bar & Grill
Leek Bar & Grill is a Turkish-style bar and grill in Leek, set in Getliffe's Yard and reached through a street entry. The dining room is large and light, built like a conservatory, which gives the space plenty of daylight. The kitchen works through lamb, chicken and fish, and the lamb dishes include a lamb shank, lamb chops and a lamb casserole. Vegetarian mezes and a vegetarian moussaka sit alongside the grilled plates, and the bar pours cocktails and wine. Mornings have their own menu, with a Mediterranean breakfast and a bacon and egg bagel. The restaurant opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often point to the mixed grill platter, called plentiful, tasty and well presented, with the vegetarian moussaka, brie and feta starters, lamb shank and a medium rare steak named close behind. Several describe a light, airy room and quick, fresh food, and breakfast earns credit for the Mediterranean breakfast and an excellent latte. Staff are repeatedly called friendly. The complaints centre on chicken and lamb. One reviewer reports feeling sick after the chicken on a salad tasted off, and was offered only a free drink at the bar when raising it. Another said the flame grilled chicken tasted as if the grill had not been cleaned. A group of five describes a fatty, bland lamb casserole, fatty lamb chops, and a replacement meal that arrived cold after everyone else had finished. On the brighter side, one birthday diner recalls dessert arriving with a candle added.

“The lovely young lady who served us was wonderful. Her customer service was just perfect, very smiley, friendly, attentive and topped off our experience. This was our first time visiting as we were on a short break near by. The food was delicious - lamb shank and sauté chicken.”

“First visit yesterday to celebrate a birthday. Staff very welcoming and we loved the venue itself, the food was fabulous and it was a lovely touch (and surprise!) for my husband to be wished a 'happy birthday' when dessert arrived complete with a candle added to it 🎂. We will definitely return 🙂”

“Visited The Bar & Grill in Leek with a group of five and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. One meal, the lamb casserole, was fatty, bitter, completely lacking seasoning, and had very little flavour. Another meal arrived incorrectly and had to be sent back. No apology was offered. A third meal, the lamb chops, was also very fatty and poor quality. The replacement meal took around 15 minutes to arrive, by which time everyone else had finished eating. When it finally arrived, it was cold and tasteless. When the waitress asked how the meals were and we explained our concerns, the response was simply, "We'll try better next time," which was not the level of customer service we expected. Overall, the food quality was poor, service was disappointing, and the experience fell well below expectations. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant.”

“On arrival, I was pleasantly surprised as the restaurant looked like a lovely place to dine. The staff were polite when we entered, and we ordered a coffee for me and a lager for my partner (I don’t drink). We were there for a surprise birthday meal and had already pre-paid and pre-ordered our food through the party organiser, so I was really looking forward to the evening. When my food arrived, it looked really nice, but unfortunately the chicken tasted off and was horrible. I honestly felt sick after trying it. What disappointed me most was that not one server checked if our meals were okay. I didn’t want to make a scene as it wasn’t my party, but the chicken on my salad was definitely off and nearly made me throw up. The atmosphere inside also felt uncomfortable, and I honestly couldn’t wait to leave. When the server eventually collected my plate, I explained that the chicken tasted off, but nothing was done about it. I mentioned it again to someone else and was offered a free drink at the bar, which I declined. Sadly, because of this experience, I won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend it.”
