About Thomas Dawes & Son
On Belle Isle Rd in Leeds, Thomas Dawes & Son is a sandwich shop serving a daytime counter menu that includes bacon and egg sarnies, ham salad, and beef salad, with custard tarts and lemon slice for dessert. Sandwiches can be made with less salad on request. The shop takes walk-ins rather than bookings, and outdoor seating is available for those who want to eat outside. Buffets are supplied for larger groups and parties, making it a option for catering beyond the counter menu. It opens Monday to Saturday during the day and stays closed on Sundays. Ordering through Just Eat is not currently offered, so customers looking to buy in person or arrange a buffet order do so directly through the shop.

Customer Review Summary
Ham salad sandwiches come up most, described as very tasty by one grandparent whose granddaughter called it the best sandwich ever, and loved alongside the desserts by another regular, though one reviewer found the ham bone dry. Bacon and egg sarnies are called great and cheaper than elsewhere, and the large custard tarts are really good, if occasionally watery. One reviewer had a buffet for 30 people supplied and found it fresh, tasty and brilliantly presented. Others mention good prices and years of visits, one saying around 20. The complaints are specific. One reviewer describes a beef salad sandwich with stinking beef, rock hard bread and a rock hard lemon slice. Another got a soggy, cold tuna salad sandwich with no salad, spam that nearly broke their teeth and mushrooms heavy with pepper. Three reviewers mention one grumpy staff member and a lack of smiles. The beef sandwich and lemon slice all went in the bin, though the Coke Zero was enjoyed.
