About Thaxters Coffee Shop
Thaxters Coffee Shop is a coffee shop at 51a Hunstanton Rd in Kings Lynn, with seating spread across three rooms inside and a garden with tables next to a garden centre. Dogs are welcome, so visitors can bring them along. The kitchen serves a full English breakfast with a choice of white or brown toast and sides such as tomatoes or beans, and sausages come with the cooked breakfast. Hot meals include lasagne and Shepherd's pie, so the menu extends beyond breakfast. A selection of cakes and pastries sits on display for anyone after something lighter. Drinks cover tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and soya milk is available for those who want it.

Customer Review Summary
Cakes and pastries draw the most mentions, with reviewers praising the wide selection, a fruit scone with tea, and a hot chocolate made with soya milk alongside a slice of cake. Others find the cakes uneven, either bland or very sweet, and one describes a blueberry cake and a chocolate cake as unappealing. Friendly, welcoming staff at the till come up repeatedly, though one reviewer found the staff disorganised, with tables left uncleared, no smiles and no one checking in on the dog hut. Food draws the sharpest complaints. Reviewers describe lasagne rock hard around the edges, reheated sausages, pale and unseasoned microwaved scrambled eggs, an egg mayo sandwich on dry bread rather than the fresh cut bread advertised, and egg and chips with a single egg. Several call the prices high for what it is. Praise for the full English centres on the sausages and the choice of toast and sides, and it came with a free tea or coffee that one diner swapped for a bottle of water.

“Lovely coffee shop, accessable and good atmosphere. The food is lovely however quite expensive i think, for what it is. The cakes are nice but sometimes they either dont taste of much or are soooo sweet. Anyway, we love it here! A nice place for coffe and cake overall (havent had any of their larger meals)”

“The food is absolutely awful. We had lasagne it was rock hard around the edges . Likely been microwaved for a long time. The sausages look like they’ve been cooked first thing and then just reheated. Be careful with the cakes we noticed several flies in there. My mum mentioned it to staff they just shrugged their shoulders. Also only got 1 egg on the egg and chips which is about £10 btw!!!”

“We just visited the coffee shop for a coffee, but decided to have lunch there as they had Shepherd's pie on the menu. It was a week day and very busy. The assistants at the till were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious but I would have liked the vegetables a little less over cooked. We would definitely visit again”

“we were completely abandoned in the dog hut, which in result led to many other tables being a mess food was okay, however it felt like we were given the desserts that no one wanted, random blueberry cake or the gross chocolate cake, that definitely didn't taste good. the plates we were given had crumbs on,and the napkins were creased and clearly not fresh from a packet. staff are disorganised and a mess, with some stood around doing nothing whilst tables need cleaning. the uniform is not appropriate, I do not think black leggings are good in any form of hospitality, completely inappropriate and not something you want to see when eating. There was no uniformity between staff, some with hair up,some down, which again, isn't something you want to see in hospitality, there was also no smiles,no asking how everything is,they definitely need some training. And don't get me started on the toilets. the female toilet, the soap dispenser is held on by tape. no wonder they are hiring”

“A spacious café in Dersingham with a pleasant interior across three rooms. They offer a wide selection of cakes and pastries, the staff is polite, and the dishes are clean. Overall, the atmosphere is very pleasant. I ordered a cup of tea and a fruit scone — all for around £5. Highly recommended!”
