Customer Review Summary

The caveats are mostly about pace and portions. A few note a little wait for the food, with service slowed when the restaurant was busy, and one finds portions smaller than a typical Indian restaurant. Parking is called a bit of an issue. The one low rating comes from a regular family who ordered food and drinks, then were told to pay upfront before the order went to the kitchen because they had no reservation, and who left without an apology.

“Food quality is amazing however the portion sizes are a bit dmaller than your typical indian restaurant. Atmosphere is great, decorations are lovely. Parking is a bit of an issue so plan your journey ahead. Service speed was bit delayed because of how busy the restuarant was but we enjoyed our visit.”

“My family and I visit this restaurant on several occasions, and we have always been able to pay our bill at the end of our meal. We have never normally made a reservation, so we were confused and surprised by what happened during this visit. My sister and I arrived first with my nieces, ordered our drinks and placed everyone’s food order straight away, as my sister needed to leave for work. We were still waiting for our dad and my sister’s partner to arrive when a member of staff came over with the bill. We explained that we were eating in rather than ordering takeaway. He then insisted that we had to pay upfront before our order could be confirmed and sent to the kitchen. When we asked why, as this had never been required on our previous visits, he told us it was because we had not made a reservation. We tried to explain that our dad was on his way and had intended to pay for us in cash, and that we would also need to order additional drinks when the others arrived. My sister also explained that she needed to get to work and that we needed the food order to be put through promptly. Despite explaining the situation several times, he continued insisting that we pay upfront without properly listening to our concerns or giving us a clear explanation beyond the fact that we had not booked a table. We ultimately had to pay by card unexpectedly, despite having planned for our dad to pay in cash. The way the situation was handled left us feeling extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed. The repeated demands for payment made us feel as though our ability or willingness to pay was being questioned, even though we had every intention of paying for our meal. We felt particularly uncomfortable because we were regular customers who had never encountered this issue before. I understand that restaurants may have payment policies in place, and I am not suggesting that you are not entitled to introduce such a policy. However, I believe that customers should be given a clear explanation and treated with courtesy and respect when they ask reasonable questions. Unfortunately, there was no apology or acknowledgement of how uncomfortable the interaction had made us feel. We left feeling disappointed and unwelcome, which is not how we would expect to feel when visiting somewhere we have eaten as a family on previous occasions. I would appreciate an explanation as to whether your payment policy has changed for customers who arrive without a reservation, why this was not an issue on our previous visits, and whether this is now the standard procedure for all walk-in customers. I hope you will take this feedback seriously, as the experience has affected how comfortable we feel about returning in the future.”
