Customer Review Summary

Breakfast draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out the bacon, the hash browns, avocado on toast with smoked salmon and the vegan brunch, plus a veggie special called fresh and filling. Close behind are the afternoon tea scones, a Bakewell cake described as fresh and light, and gluten free options one diner calls fab. Reviewers also mention countryside views from the outdoor seating, friendly staff, and toys that kept children entertained, and one found the staff calm and efficient on a busy day, with tea arriving promptly. Service is the recurring complaint. Two reviewers describe an abrupt waitress, and one says she questioned a cheese on toast order from the child's menu instead of beans and repeatedly reminded them to order, though that reviewer still called the food lovely. The other felt unwelcome after being told at the door that the table was needed in two hours, and saw the same message given to other tables.

“Terrible service. We arrived without booking - given table and told quite abruptly to order breakfast by 11 (this was 10.30 so we had plenty of time). We were waiting for a friend stuck in traffic and said no problem, if we don’t order in time we’ll have cakes instead. Waitress kept abruptly coming and reminding us to order. We said we will order despite our friend not making it in time - waitress said ‘it’s the last time I’m coming to take a food order’. We had never asked her to come over. And we had made it clear we didn’t mind if we couldn’t make the order in time. When we ordered the cheese on toast from child’s menu, waitress said ‘what- instead of beans??’ Even though it was a meal on the menu. We felt like we were an inconvenience to the waitress the whole time even though we just ordered a few coffees and breakfast. Attitude was unwelcoming and rude every time she came over to us, which was a lot - unnecessarily so. It wasn’t busy. We weren’t loud and didn’t make a mess. After we ate, the waitress came and said ‘I don’t know if anyone’s told you, but we need this table in ten minutes’ so we had to rush and leave. Didn’t see anyone arriving for the table after we left and no reserved signs etc. Person at the till was just as abrupt. Not sure what we did to be made to feel that way as it didn’t look as though other parties were being treated in the same manner. Shame as the food was lovely.”

“We decided to go to the tea room for breakfast after a few months of not attending. To say we were met by a pleasant young lady with blonde hair in a pony tail was an understatement , and came across quite aggressive, we requested a table for 2 which she said would be fine , to then to be told we need this table in 2hrs , I was not planning staying all day let alone 2hrs, it took 10minutes before we were served, young lady was very pleasant and helpful, however we observed the same young lady telling several others in the tea room table needed in 2hrs, lots of disgruntled customers . If this is your new policy then surly it would be far better to put up a customer notice to explain this and why. We there at 9 so lunch menu not till after 11/11-30. We wont be back.”

“What a phenomenal place with amazing service, and very kid-friendly! Hands-down the best bacon we’ve had all this time, and I can highly recommend the avocados on toast with smoked salmon. The place has a breathtaking view of the countryside out back, and is surprisingly calm and serene. We were travelling through with two tired kids and everybody was so lovely - the staff was so on the ball and made sure everybody felt welcome, they had toys for the kids and helped keeping them entertained. A true hidden gem!”

“Stopped off for a bite with friends and was wonderfully surprised at the team room. We were met with a lovely staff member and seated quickly. Menus arrived shortly afterwards and our drinks orders taken, whilst we chose our food orders. The food arrived quickly and was beautifully presented and delicious. The pricing was very reasonable with an adult meal and drinks for under £15. The service, staff, food and atmosphere were all top class and we were very happy with our visit. There are also a number of bespoke shops outside of the team rooms well worth a visit. I would have no hesitation in recommending the tea rooms and shops for a bite to eat and a wander, they were both fabulous!”
