Customer Review Summary

Reviewers single out the Sunday lunch and the restored quality of the food and service after a quieter spell, with the building itself often called beautiful and relaxing. The service earns repeated praise, though several flag prices as steep, citing a £17.50 chicken salad as poor value, and one diner felt a birthday visit missed a small gesture.

“Beautiful place. We spent our weekend away and was very relaxing. Would definitely come back.”
  • Giles Batchelor
“Excellent Sunday lunch, at a reasonable price. I don't really understand why the place wasn't busier, but it made the atmosphere lacking and staff could have been more attentive.”

“It's been a while since I have visited the Vines as we had become disillusioned with what they were offering. I am pleased to say the quality of the food and service was back to how we remember it originally. There was a large wedding party going on that had been a distraction to the level of service in recent visits. Not now. Excellent, friendly service that was exemplary. The only point of contention is the price of items, for example £17.50 for a Ceasar Chicken salad, how much can be charged for lettuce leaves and some chicken. Still will be happy to stagger along for another visit and nice to meet up with Shelly again.”

“Lovely restaurant with a beautiful interior and a really great atmosphere which I visit often. Some of the staff were attentive and friendly, and a special mention to Austin who took the time to chat with us and made us feel very welcome. That said, we were slightly underwhelmed when it came to celebrating my friend’s birthday. The staff brought out a plate with “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate sauce, but nothing else, no small dessert or gesture, which felt a bit awkward and a missed opportunity to make the occasion feel special. Overall, it was a nice experience and a place I’d still recommend, just with a bit of room for improvement when it comes to special occasions and perhaps pricing.”
