About The Belter's Bar
The Belter's Bar is a bar in Jedburgh at 23A Castle Gate, with a small bar area downstairs and more room in the lounge upstairs. The upstairs lounge is where meals are served, and the Scotty Pie with chicken and haggis comes out of that kitchen. The menu centres on pies and burgers, including some unusual versions, and steak with peppercorn sauce also appears. Burgers can be made on gluten free buns, and the kitchen lists plenty of other gluten free options. Downstairs, the bar pours several beers on keg and at least one real ale on tap. Booking is needed for meals. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the steak, cooked medium rare as asked or "perfectly" and served with a peppercorn sauce. Close behind are the burgers and pies, including a Texan burger, a Scotty Pie with chicken and haggis, and cheesy chips with a real cheese sauce. A vegetarian bean chilli and gluten free buns also get mentions. Diners describe the food as good, honest pub food served generously at reasonable prices, with the dining area upstairs from a small bar. Several mention a good beer and cider choice, with real ale on tap, and a cosy, traditional room with a wood fire. The owners are called warm and welcoming, and dogs are welcomed, with one reviewer meeting the pub dog. The outside is described as underwhelming and hard to tell it is open, though reviewers say the inside is better than it looks. One notes that booking is needed, and another had a reserved seat waiting before a match with country music playing.

“A terrific menu of pies and burgers, all quite unusual versions. I had the Scotty Pie with chicken and Haggis and it was DELICIOUS. We can highly recommend this restaurant (upstairs) and the bar.”

“Loved this place. Looks a little underwhelming on the outside but be brave and head on in to the bar. The initial bar area is small but don't be deceived. There's more space upstairs and the food they serve is good, honest, pub food but served well and generously, and the quality is excellent! Several beers on the keg and at least one real ale on tap.”

“My absolute favorite establishment in Jedburgh. Lorraine and Gordon are very warm and welcoming. The pub is cozy and traditional. The dinning area is upstairs and comfortable.”
