Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the set and two course menus, with salmon, chicken, pan seared swordfish and cottage pie singled out as delicious, and one reviewer calling the set menu incredible value. Close behind are the dessert coupes, notably the Chef's Special Sticky Toffee Coupe and a strawberry coupe. Perfectly cooked fish and chips with home made tartar sauce and a Sunday roast also earn praise. Reviewers also like the terrace overlooking the sea, the cosy room with its blossom tree, and table service they describe as kind and welcoming, and one family calls it a favourite for all occasions. Consistency is the recurring complaint. One diner loved a rib eye one night, then found the next night's disappointing in presentation and heat, with a lone cold tomato. A takeaway breakfast brought stone cold sausage and bacon baps and a caramel latte far too sweet, and one diner disliked receipts stamped service not included. Another reported two plates of hake where one portion was the size of a large fish finger and the other three times bigger.

“Came in today and was served by a lovely young lady called alanna. Even though they were evidently busy (I think I saw 3 members of staff total) she still took the time to talk to us and made us feel very welcome! Food was amazing, we had the set course menu, which I thought was incredible value. I had the pan seared swordfish and my husband had the cottage pie. We both had the strawberry coupe to finish it off and wow! Will definitely return, ask for alanna if you want great service 😊”

“We had an amazing rib eye steak dinner on the 28th September, it was that good I took my daughter and son in-law plus children on the 29th, most of us ordered the rib eye, but it was not anywhere near as good as the night before as far as presentation, heat and enjoyment, disappointing, the original chef must have had a day off, even the tomato served was cold and on its own, previous night there were 2 halves perfectly cooked, people want consistency not a make do , photo is from the first night”

“After a walk along the sea front I stopped by for some late breakfast around 11am. When I ordered I asked for a sausage bap & bacon bap, the waitress walked away before I could finish my order. While she prepared my food (taking the sausage & bacon out of the hot tray) there was a waiter just stood, he didn’t check if I had any drinks etc, he then served someone else. Once my food was in the bag to take away, I then asked for a caramel latte, the waitress told the waiter who was already serving someone else by this point. She held out the card reader, without asking if I wanted to pay cash & without telling me how much it actually was. She then went towards the back of the hut to eat something herself. I was then left waiting a while as the waiter was still dealing with the other customer. He put the latte in front of me & I checked it was caramel which it isn’t. He then just poured in it the top, didn’t measure how much he was putting in. Told me it would need stirring. When we sat to eat our baps they were stone cold, the sausages actually had fat visibly harden on it. My husband took a sip of his coffee (after stirring it) and nearly spat it out because of how sweet it was from all the caramel. Such a disappointing end to our pleasant beach walk.”

“Our time was absolutely fabulous. From the atmosphere to the food. Everywhere i look i see little decorations upgrading the place. From as soon as you step inside your mood changes to a 5 star restaurant. We ate a wide range of food from starters to desserts. Personally my favorite was the "Chefs Special Sticky Toffee Coupe" which was certainly special if you ask me. The service is top notch and very kind. I will come here again and again and recommend others to try this fabulous place!”

“Enjoyed perfectly cooked fish and chips with delicious home made tartar sauce in the open air dining area. Waiter service was propmt and perfectly tailored to meet my needs. A varied and top notch menu included the days "Chefs Special". It's not the first time I have eaten there and definately won't be the last”
