About The Brickfield Cookhouse + Pub

The Brickfield Cookhouse + Pub sits on Cherry Garden Lane in Folkestone, just off the A20, which makes it a practical stop for travellers heading away from the coast. The space runs as a bar-led pub, with ordering and payment taken at the counter rather than the table, and the kitchen now works through a shortened menu as it winds down stock ahead of its planned closure in early September. Among the items still available, the signature burger anchors the short list, and there are straightforward kids' options such as nuggets and fish fingers. Steak, mixed grill and fish and chips are no longer on the menu. A braille menu is offered for guests who need it. Walk-ins are the order of the day, and the room doubles as a bar alongside the kitchen.

Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers point to the burgers as a reliable pick, and several note the venue's convenience and easy parking on the A20 route. Service draws mixed mentions, with a few describing friendly, helpful staff and others flagging slow, understaffed bar service. Several diners warn that the menu is shrinking ahead of a planned closure to outside patrons, with missing items and limited choices at lunch and breakfast.

“Hit and miss with the service. Good value for money”

“Our final Sunday lunch here as The Brickfields is closing its doors for the final time on 3/9/26 to non residents of the Premier Inn that is situated next door. Premier Inn are focusing on their core business of residents going forward & subsequently closing all the Beefeater restaurants & other brands that are located adjacent to their motels. Unfortunately because of the closure the menus have been cut to the bare minimum as they run down their stock so the choice was very limited for lunch. Shame to see the place close to outside patronage as its always been a pleasant place to pop in to for a meal & being within walking distance for many was always an easy choice for local residents”

“I have been going to this restaurant for years and it has always been good and the menu was great for the kids. My recent visit was very disappointing menu had changed, no pizza for the kids, food missing from menu and also drinks. We had our meal at 7.15pm so having a shortage at this time of day is not acceptable. The staff were great as usual but the food and menu was not great. I ordered the signature burger it was good as expected, kids had nuggets and fish fingers, kids eat some of it but it looked awful. Before going in again next year I will investigate first and if no changes have been made I will get a takeaway or go to McDonalds. Please sort out the menu to be more suitable for kids and stock levels. Chef and manager need a talking to”

“Closing to the public on the 3rd September and then only going to be open for residents from the Premiere Inn, not sure if they are running food down, but no steak, no mixed grill, and no fish and chips. We did though have a great waitress, very friendly and helpful, but the food was not so great.”
  • Caroline Winton
“It was ok. We had breakfast and most things that were advertised were not available. We had no service as no one came round to ask if everything was ok. Just met one person at the bar who took our money and saw no one else. Felt a bit pushed out when breakfast had finished.”
