  “We spotted this restaurant after spending some time at the local park with the family. As we all love Malaysian food, we thought we’d give it a try and ordered several dishes to take away. We ordered the beef rendang, char kway teow, chicken satay, aromatic crispy duck, special fried rice and nasi goreng. As a chef with over 30 years of experience, and having travelled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, I have to say I found the food incredibly disappointing. The chicken satay was overcooked and tasted as though the chicken had been deep-fried or oven-cooked before having satay sauce poured over it. Traditionally, satay chicken is grilled, ideally over charcoal, which gives it that distinctive smoky flavour. To be fair, the satay sauce itself tasted quite nice. The biggest disappointment was the beef rendang. Unless I was given the wrong dish, this was nothing like any traditional beef rendang I have experienced. It appeared to be slices of fried beef with lots of onions in a curry-style sauce, rather than the rich, slow-cooked rendang I was expecting. Unfortunately, the aromatic crispy duck was also overcooked and very chewy, to the point that it was almost inedible. The hoisin sauce was as expected. Both the special fried rice and nasi goreng were quite dry, although the nasi goreng did have a nice flavour. The char kway teow was by far the best dish of the order. It was a good-sized portion, had plenty of flavour and was the one dish we genuinely enjoyed. On the positive side, the food was reasonably priced and the portion sizes were fair. However, overall the quality of the food was a big let-down, particularly as we had been looking forward to some good Malaysian food. Based on this experience, unfortunately, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return.”
