Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return to the food at The Aviary, with the Lamb Ragu and King Prawn Saganaki singled out repeatedly, alongside mussels in a sauce one reviewer says they could drink from a cup. Close behind are the steaks, described as cooked perfectly, and homemade chunky chips. Reviewers also name the arancini starter, scallops with pork tenderloin, a Sunday roast with buttery parsnips and a crisp Yorkshire pudding, and a pistachio cheesecake. Service draws steady praise, and several describe birthday or anniversary cards from the team, with one mentioning a glass of prosecco and a strawberry. The main criticism comes from one party of six, who report a Ribeye that arrived cold and was dried out when reheated, and a Sirloin that came rare when ordered medium. The charge for the Sirloin was removed and a sorbet was offered, though that reviewer found the sorbet disappointing. The same reviewer finds the room very noisy when full. One walk-in party was seated and encouraged to order quickly before two large groups arrived.

“Excellent Sunday roast packed full of flavour, with succulent meat and even more delicious veggies! Parsnips and potatoes were buttery soft, greens were moreish, and gravy was utter perfection. Yorkshire pudding was crisp on the outside and soft, mildly sweet & fluffy on the inside, whilst pigs in blankets were a nice salty kick to the plate. Highly recommend for a more higher end roast vibe, with a premium feel.”

“First time visiting for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. Kaycee looked after us so well, very attentive and made sure everything was ok. Arancini starter was so yummy and the steaks were cooked perfectly! All the ingredients were so fresh, everything was delicious. The decor was so unique and beautiful. Definitely the nicest restaurant in Hornchurch! Can’t wait to visit again soon!”

“We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at The Aviary in Hornchurch and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the atmosphere made the evening feel really special. A special thank you to Kaycee, who was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly throughout the evening. She made us feel very welcome and helped make our anniversary memorable. We were also touched to receive an anniversary card from the team, which was such a thoughtful gesture and a lovely surprise. It's little touches like this that make a restaurant stand out. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere.”

“We were a party of six and this was our first experience of The Aviary. It strarted well, with good drinks and service. Starters came to those who ordered and enjoyed. The problem arose for the main courses. One person ordered Ribeye and two ordered Sirloin, medium. The Ribeye came cold and so was returned to kitchen. They reheated it which simply dried it out but did give fresh chips on the plate. It was not enjoyable for the diner. The Sirloin for one person was rare and there was an observation made when collecting plates as it was only half eaten. They did to their credit remove the charge for the Sirloin off the menu and also gave the sorbet dessert complimentary for that person. Unfortunately, the sorbet was not the best which was disappointing. Its very noisy with a full restaurant and the acoustics could be improved. Nice touch was a card for couple celebrating 9 year anniversary and a glass of prosecco and a fresh strawberry which was appreciated. We will try again in a couple of months to see if it has improved.”

“Took a chance on a walk in and they found us a nice table and encouraged us to order quickly, not to rush us but because two large groups were coming in and we might have a long weight otherwise. Food was really great. I had King prawns starter and a Lamb Ragu for the main. Loved it.”
