About Bar Azita
Bar Azita is a Mediterranean restaurant at 35 Bucklersbury in Hitchin, with a menu that moves between grills, fish and sharing plates. Chicken shishlik sits among the meat dishes, and meat sharing platters suit a table that wants to share. Fish dishes and an Argentinian steak add further choices, while Greek salad and potato salad come as side plates. Tarta de Santiago is on the dessert list, and sangria is served in carafes. The downstairs room includes a table in the window. Walk-ins are accepted without a booking, and a waiting list runs when the restaurant is fully booked.

Customer Review Summary
Generous portions of Mediterranean dishes draw the most praise. One diner singles out the potatosalata, lamb kofta and meat sharing platters, while the Chicken Shishlik and the Argentinian steak are each named as a standout, and the fish is called fresh. Close behind are the staff, described as friendly, warm and attentive. Two reviewers recall being seated without a booking or put on a waiting list when the restaurant was full. A few also mention sitting outside in the middle of Hitchin for the people-watching. The caveats are small but specific. On a return visit, one diner found the swordfish much smaller than before and the Greek salad short on feta. Another wanted quicker drinks service and faster collection of empty glasses, and found the sangria awkward to pour from the carafes. One couple celebrating a birthday said the restaurant happily arranged a treat after a phone call earlier in the day.

“Maybe a bit quicker with the drinks service and collection of empty glasses. Sangria a bit difficult to pour from the carafes. However, overall we had a lovely evening and will definitely come back :-)”

“We were accepted without a booking and given a spacious table in the window downstairs. Fiona and her male colleague were exceptionally welcoming, courteous, lively and engaging. It was nice to see waiting staff with some character and personality. We ordered mainly fish dishes supplemented by a couple of vegetable dishes. The food was delicious however compared to a previous visit the swordfish was much smaller and the Greek salad, although very tasty, could have done with some more feta, hence the score of 4. The Tarta de Santiago was exceptional and overall a very enjoyable meal. We will definitely come again.”
