Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the pizzas and the speed and friendliness of the table service, with the mushroom pizza on the classic thin base, the Romana pizzas, and the pepperoni pizza with garlic bread all singled out as hot and tasty. Several describe staff who looked after them well, including one who made sure the children's food came out first, and another who brought a fresh pizza quickly after a soggy base and checked back afterwards. The kids' menu is called excellent, and a few say app and club offers made the prices reasonable. The caveat is uneven kitchen and service quality. One reviewer waited a long while for a gluten-free Pollo Ad Asta that arrived almost black and hard, then got undercooked dough balls and a stingy, wet remake. Another describes a delivery collection order that came out cold and doughy with a soggy halloumi sharer, and a diner reports a forgotten water order, a tiny table and a blunt card machine exchange. Both lower reviewers call the pizzas overpriced.

“If I had to pick a favorite pizza restaurant in the world, it would be this one. I thoroughly enjoyed the pepperoni pizza and garlic bread. And this was the first place Ive ever had goose berries! The service is usually good and the restaurant has always been presentable and clean when I have dined here.”

“Me and my girlfriend had gone for dinner tonight and the service throughout the whole of the night was nothing shy of terrible. As soon as we walked in It took about 5 minutes for us to get seated although it not being busy whatsoever while also having a table pre booked. When then got showed to our table and it was the smallest table in the whole restaurant despite a lot of other tables being empty. The waiter who I’m under the impression was the manger took our order and forgot our drinks we had the most simple drinks on the menu (water). When our pizza arrived it was next to impossible to cut as we had been given the most dull wobbly pizza slicer I’ve ever handled it was a nightmare. And finally at the end of our meal the same woman brought the card machine over and I had pressed the no tip option and the waiter Yanked the card machine off the table did not say thank you or goodbye and stormed off to another table with no hesitation. Overall terrible experience overpriced to hell aswell will not be returning”

“Pizza Express in Harrogate was a disappointment. While the location is good, located in the town centre on Albert Street, I was disappointed with the overall food quality and waiting times. I ordered a Gluten-Free Pollo Ad Asta with a peach iced tea and a portion of gluten-free dough balls, and I added a pesto dip. It can be a little pricey here, but the Pizza Express Club offers can help a lot, so on this occasion I only paid for my pizza, as the extras were free - but I do feel the pizzas are priced high enough that you’re technically paying for at least some of the extras anyway and need a promotional offer to make it affordable. I had a really long wait for my pizza, and ended up waiting around 40-45 minutes, but when it was served it was severely overcooked; it was almost black and didn’t look appetising at all, it had also become hard and difficult to cut into. I originally planned to eat the pizza as I was tired and hungry, but it was inedible. The dough balls were also badly burnt on the bottom, so I had to send these back too. Luckily, when my food was remade, the wait wasn’t too long, but again it felt like they’d rushed my food; the new dough balls were undercooked and had no colour to them whatsoever, and the pizza’s tomato sauce was still wet, the quantity of toppings was stingy, and adding insult to injury, they were poorly distributed. If I had to describe the second pizza in one word, I’d say - edible - something I ate because I was so tired and hungry, not out of enjoyment. Stock of certain items could be better, as I overheard they’d run out of gluten-free bases while waiting for my refired pizza. Unfortunately, Pizza Express is a brand that I used to love, but based on a couple of my recent experiences at their restaurants, including this one, it seems their best days are behind them, and I wouldn’t return to this particular location.”
