About Sushi Nara
Sushi Nara is a Japanese restaurant in Guildford at 4B North St, with a room styled after a Japanese tea house and warm lighting. Guests order through a QR code on the table, and the bill builds as items are added, so it is paid once at the end. A complimentary soup comes after ordering. The menu centres on fresh sushi and sashimi, with tuna sashimi and hand rolls among the raw options. Tempura shrimp sits on the cooked side, alongside hot mains and noodle dishes. The kitchen also prepares Korean dishes next to the Japanese ones.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the fresh sushi and sashimi, with one describing buttery salmon sashimi and others pointing to tuna sashimi and a hamachi set where the hamachi maki with spring onions balances the fat of the fish. Close behind are the cooked dishes: tempura shrimp, chicken karaage, soft shell crab and a katsu curry served with a big ball of rice. Dragon rolls and unagi also get mentions, and one diner received a complimentary soup. Several describe a cozy, warm room with the feel of a Japanese tea house, quick service and friendly staff. The main recurring trade-off is ordering by QR code. One reviewer found the code hidden in a tiny table stand at the far end of the table, and another wished for more contact with staff than ordering from a phone allows. A third liked adding to the order as they go and paying at the end. One also found the sushi rice a bit big and sticky. In one account, a server advised eating the hand rolls early, before the sauce softened the seaweed.

“The food at sushinara is amazing. Quality of ingredients is top notch and you can tell in the flavour. Probably had the most buttery salmon sashimi ever. I only got a picture of the handrolls but this was a good point about the service and the care they have for you .... We were enjoying our meal and the lovely server took a moment to recommend eating the hand rolls sooner before the sauce made the seaweed softer , this level of attention and CARE is often missed and highly underrated as far as good service goes.”

“Nice cozy atmosphere with the vibes of a Japanese tea house. Food is fresh and delicious. Manager and owner are friendly and provided good service. Like the Unangi, dragon rolls and tuna sashimi. One thing to take note is that not all customers are familiar with the ordering protocols, maybe worth informing customers to order food through the QR code. The code unfortunately was “hidden” in a teeny weeny table stand located at the far end of the table.”

“Every dish here is delicious, and the service is always excellent. It’s one of the places I visit frequently. I especially love the tempura shrimp, the Wednesday Ladies’ Roll, and the chicken karaage—everything is consistently great, and the staff are always very friendly. highly recommended!”
