About The Corner fish and chips
The Corner fish and chips is a fish and chip shop in Great Yarmouth, on Central Seafront, with a few tables inside the small shop. Dogs are welcome, so visitors can bring them along. Gluten free food is cooked separately at no extra charge, and the kitchen asks for notice beforehand, which suits diners who avoid gluten. The menu runs from fish and chips, with large cod and large chips on offer, to battered sausage and chips and cheesy balls. Food is cooked fresh to order, so a wait is possible. Chips are fried fresh and served in a round container rather than a tray.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the fish, cooked fresh to order, with lovely moist white chunks under crispy batter, and several call it the best they have had in years. Close behind are the chips, described as fresh, hot and spot on, along with a battered sausage and the cheesy balls. One coeliac reviewer says the gluten free fish and chips are stunning, cooked separately and at no extra charge. Portions are called huge or generous, though one diner felt a large chips order was small and another found them not huge. Cooking to order means a slightly longer wait, which most accept but one party of seven found stretched past forty minutes, with a child's fish nuggets arriving after the rest had finished. Another reviewer left half a meal because both cod portions were riddled with bones, and one found the tables sticky. Several mention friendly staff, a seniors menu, and sauce packets given free, and one reviewer's dog got its own sausage.

“Came here on a Thursday lunch time. No que and plenty of seating outside. Wanted a large cod and chips and a medium cod and chips but was told they had no medium. So two large it was, with two curry sauces. Portion sizes were ok. Curry was a tad thin but still tasty. Chips were spot on. Unfortunately both of the fish were riddled with bones meaning we both left half on our meal. Unfortunate. Would I come back? No. They are simply too many other chippies to try.”

“Went here yesterday for lunch and honestly really enjoyed it! The chips were absolutely spot on — fresh, hot and full of flavour. You can’t beat a good portion of fresh chips, and these definitely hit the spot! 🍟🐟 It’s in a brilliant location, making it a great place to stop for lunch while exploring Great Yarmouth. The only little downside was that the tables were a bit sticky. I personally would have liked my fish cooked a little more, but that’s definitely down to preference and I should have mentioned it at the time. Overall, really good food, great location and a satisfying lunch. I’d happily go back and would definitely recommend giving Corner Fish & Chips a try if you’re in Great Yarmouth! 😋👏”

“Visited end of July 2026 at approx 1pm. were able to get a table. we ordered 2 large cod and large chips + a pie. The fish was freshly made and huge. between 3 of us we struggled to finish. Best fish we had in ages. The chips. for a large portion I felt we got the last of the chips and portion was small. I am sure if i paid for regular chips I would have got exactly the same. Looking at the images from other people I can see our portion was not the same. HOWEVER, the fish was really amazing hence I am not taking away any stars. Staff were fantastic and friendly. I was also impressed that they did not charge for the ketchup and tartar sauce packets. We often visit Great Yarmouth and The Corner Fish & Chips is our new favourite. I noted that you can eat near the Pleasure Beach (which we have tried) but the fish here was amazing. I am not kidding you. lovely moist white chuncks of fish. Definately an experience frier. well done and see you again.”

“We called in here for some chips on a visit to Great Yarmouth and it did not disappoint. We were made to feel welcome and the restaurant area was very clean. The chips were cooked fresh and were delicious. We had them to take away and the portion was very generous. Came served in a round container rather than a tray which made them alot easier to eat on the go and the price was reasonable. Alot of choices on the menu too. Would visit again and would highly recommend 👍”

“Amazing little shop. Fish and chips were delicious. Portions not huge so I could eat them all. Prices very good to match meant I wasn’t paying for food I wouldn’t eat. They even had a seniors menu for over 65. The shop is small with three tables inside and two tables outside under the canopy which keeps you mostly dry or the bright sun off you. If you are inside you can watch him cook all your meal from fresh including the chips making the food taste so much better than out of a warmer. As you leave and deposit your chip carton in the trash bin in the door, make sure you partake in the tradition of saying ‘thank you’ to him. I come on holidays to the Great Yarmouth seaside with my little Assistance Dog brown Cockapoo, and will be using him as my go to chippie if he is still there in the years to come. Highly recommended.”
